I have joined a pool called Suicide Football Pool. Rules are fairly simple. Each week you pick one team to win (no point spreads). If the team wins you advance to the next week. If the team loses, you are out for the season. You can only pick a team once during the year, so if you made it all the way through the season you would have to pick 17 different teams to win. At any time those remaining in the pool can agree to end the pool and split the proceeds, only if all agree. The cost is $100 to enter. Two years ago there were I think 480 entries, and two people split the pool. Last year one person won the pool in week 16 with 660 entries for $66,000.
So the question is, if you had to pick a team in week 1, who & why?
Rules I am thinking to play by are only pick home teams, try to avoid division games, and go with the biggest point spread of the teams available. At some point you will have to get lucky to advance. I might also try saving a few big name teams to use later in the season.

I'd have to say...
Chargers
Colts
or
Da Bears.

Chargers or "Da Bears" huh? Well seeing how they are PLAYING EACHOTHER week 1, yea, one of them is going to come up with a win.
I would lean towards SD, 1 because it's a home game, and 2, because of Rex Grossman, but its still pretty damn hard to go against the # 1 NFC, and # 2 NFL team last season. DONT TOUCH THIS GAME
Secondly, I wouldnt have my hands anywhere near the Colts/Saints game. Only thing the Colts have going for them is that its a home game, but they have lost a lot of players, and Saints look like they will be even better than next year. DONT TOUCH THIS GAME
Another game I would stay away from in ATL @ Min. I think your going to see nearly half, if not more of your pool going with a Falcolns loss because of Vick. Possible, but I wouldn't count on it. Good thing is, if the Falcons do win, half your pool was just knocked out.
I'm personally going with San Fran @ home over the cards. I think Arizona has the potential to be amazing this year, but I just think SF is a more proven team (end of last season), and is going to be a major player this season.

I also like Jacksonville over the Titans...Jags D should be awesome this year.

I'd take Seattle. Tough week to pick.

Yes Brees is hot this year...had him on my fantasy team last year...
The only thing the colts have is Peyton.
Chargers have LT and Rivers which is a big plus
Bears have the best defense in the NFL (If not tied with Ravens.)

Right now I think I have narrowed this week to either Jacksonville or Seattle, probably leaning to the ChickenHawks. Definitely staying far away from Chargers & Bears, hopefully to use both later in the year. Same with Indy & Saints.

Bears D is over rated...I'd take Jacksonville's D over DA BEARS
