Holy crap, where have I been that this movie flew under my radar?
Just caught it by accident tonight.
Best film I've seen in a long, long time.
-
Not in here.. there was a thread about it around the time it came out :)
-
Is it suitable for kids?
-
Tis a good movie, i have an arts cinema a 2 minute walk from my house so i see a lot of indi movies/world cinema.
It is a fantasy film, how young are your children? IIRC the spanish officer does some very brutal things, i don't think it would be suitable for kids.

I"ve been wanting to watch this one for a while. It looks good. It seems these type of movies (not sure of a catagory but I'd say semi-fantisy) are coming out more and more.
I'm going to see stardust tonight. Supposed to be pretty good.
In addition if you want to a good family movie to watch "Bridge to Teribithea" is excellent and a tear jerker!

I loved Pan's. Havent seen the others.
-
It was a pretty disgusting film... It's on cable and I have tried to watch it several times but... If you like the current crop of torture films and such you might like it.

Curval, what thrila said.
There are more or less equal parts of very G scenes, and borderline R. It's a bit unusual.
I don't know what your parenting 'rules' are, but I think kids 14-15 years and older is a safe limit.
-
It has some pretty gruesome scenes, but it's not gratuitous. This is an excellent film. Definitely NOT for small children unless you want to scare the bejeezus out of them.

is the whole thing in spanish?

Si.

The whole "thing that should not be" creature with the eyes in his hands is creepy. The way he just sat there.

**** no.

As long as you don't mind reading subtitles the whole time, It's really a pretty good flick.

and it was an amazing movie FOR AN ADULT (who doesn't mind a little brutality and blook)! I wouldn't let a kid under the age of 15 see this flick. I recall that I commented on how beautiful the camera work and costumes were. The subtitles took a bit to get use to but it is well worth the rental.

Good movie that went under everyone's radar. Given that, We, as Americans hate subtitled films..it's really not surprising. We'd rather have the rehashed Hollywood crap thown up in our face. I doubt many would have even grasped the subtle meanings contained in the film.

moray... I never even looked for the point of the film... if it had a point I never got to it.. it was to hard to watch. If it were a book I might read it.

grims fairy tales and childrens cautionary stories have always been gruesome.
(hansel and gretel being put in a pot to be boiled by the witch etc)
this fim was no exception. i found it beautiful and stunning...certaintly disturbing in parts...but not neccessarilly gratuitous.
a unique film, id recommend the experience.
