Hi Guys -
I'm trying to access my wireless router, and when I type in the IP address for the router (default of 192.168.1.1) I get a page not found error.
The router is working as obviously have internet access. Has anyone seen this before and is there anyway around this?
thanks!

I get that form time to time when my provider resets the mac address.
which it claims it does for added security.
In any event usually its uneventful and the computer see's it automatically and I dont even know its happened.
But I do occasionally run accross the same problem
Try rebooting the computer.
If that doesnt work.
Power down the computer.. Unplug the router and power down the cablemodem.
Wait one minute then in this order.
Power up the cable modem till it cycles
Then. Pkug the rounter back in and allow that to cycle.
Then reboot the computer
Also make sure you have your wifi on your computer enableld
I know on my sons laptop he was going nuts cause he couldnt figure out why he wasnt connection.
seems on the HP there is a button on the top of the keyboard portion where you can manually enable and disable WiFi

Thankee!!
I'll give that a try!

Little confused, you can't access the router, but still surf the web? Is this correct?
Double click on the Lan connection Icon next to your clock in the system tray. Then click the Support tab and make sure the Default Gateway is 192.168.1.1
If it has changed, type in the new address to access the router. Stranger things have happened to me before.

Try typing in this IP address to select your wireless router:
192.168.10.1

Huh? Home routers by default use the 192.168.1.X private address range. Unless someone has manually configured the router for a 192.168.10.1 address (not too likely) trying to talk to the router using that address will yield nothing.
Go to start/run and type "cmd" without the quotes. Once the cli prompt comes up type "ipconfig /all" without the quotes and hit enter. The default gateway address listed will be the address of the router you're accessing to get out to the internet.

I think what he was saying is that he can see the cablemodem accessing the internet from the "online" light on the cablemodem.
Having been through the exact same thing he was discribing. Thats what I took from it.
When it happens to me the first thing I look at is the cable modem.
If its cycling and recycling as if it just started up I know there is a problem with my service.
If I see all the lights solidly lit and the "online" light lit in particular I know I have to go through the procedure I discribed to get online again.
That being said....
Modus. Let us know what the final outcome was.

Some routers by default use:
192.168.10.1
Private Address Range is 192.168.X.X

Hey Guys -
thanks for all the responses. I just haven't had a chance to try them all yet.
Just to clarify, I'm on a wireless router, no cable modem. My router is pluged into the wireless antena (from the ISP) up on the roof. When I type in 192.168.1.1 into the web browser to access the router, I get a page not found error.
However, I can surf the net etc, so I know the router is working and I'm connected to the wireless antena.
I don't remember changing the default IP, but stranger things have happened I guess. The house recieved a direct hit of lightning a couple of weeks ago, so, this issue may very well be a result of that hit.
Hopefully this weekend, I can get away from the wife and her to-do list to putz a little bit with this stuff. Thanks again!

If you can surf the net.
Then whats the problem?
That is the end objective. Is it not?

What I would do is to Google the router model and see what are the default access codes and IP. Some require .0.1 some .1.1 some .0.254 etc. to login.
