I don't remember who said it, but last night watching the debate, it was said by someone that 1- they would try to amend the Constitution to ban abortion because here in America we celebrate life....
My reply........Yea...Sure we do. Just ask the folks from New Orleans (including the smart ones who actually did evacuate, yet 2 years later still dont have a home)
another one was the whole gay marriage spheil where someone said the best family is with a mother and a father...
My reply again......What about the familys where a parent is killed? Are they less of a family? Are they a "BAD" family in the eyes of the neo cons now?
I'm so fed up with this crap. The Dems are loons, and the Conservatives are such salamanders.
I'm not voting again until there is a candidate that is here to provide for THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. Not their political party.
We can appropriate and pull trillions out of our arse for Iraq, yet when the money could be used at home, we just cant find it. How about we help Americans who need it, before we mother theresa the rest of the world.
This place is so fluff'n screwed up.

I'm so cynical of the voting process in general I voted Barney the Dinosaur for my class president because 1 candidate was popular and as I'm not at all a popular person, I felt she would infringe upon my rights as a lowly outcast. The other candidate was a jock and as I'm not a jock myself I felt he would infringe upon my rights to fix cars.
But hey, at least I didn't vote for Hitler (some of my friends did).
P.S. My vote in the 2008 election is still up for grabs but I'm leaning towards Chef Boyardee.
-
Here is another interesting question.......
If the fetus that (insert republican congressmans name here)_______ is fighting to save turns out to be a homosexual, would he still fight for its rights after it was born?
-
Depends, has that congressman been involved in any homoerotic bathroom exploits?
-
Yea...He even plead guilty. But he wants to take it back, and wants to assure us "I"M NOT GAY"
-
I can't even believe they spend time talking about such trivial issues, and am even more shocked that there are actually people that tune in to watch. When is this election? Being self interested as I am, my vote will go in the direction which I feel will have a chance of leaving more of my $$ in my account at the end of the month, and less of my $$ going to the government.
-
The last question was moot. He wouldn't give a damn unless it would further his political career.
-
I'm voting for skuzzy....

cmon it's reality TV at it's best. That's what the "Masses" (read: mob) vote for and as we know "the mob IS Rome"
YEa I agree with you. T here's a hundred other issues I find more important that two homos marrying but that's what they harp on!

I would think that if one of the parents was killed, the family would be less than it was... otherwise the parent that was killed would have been valueless.
If it is less than it was, the original 2 parent family was better, and possibly the best scenario.
But then I am thinking without being angry.

lolz, great question. what if it was born with lungs on the outside of its body, would fight to keep it alive?

I honestly beleive that if all US citizens were required by law to vote you would see things differently in the government.
I have also personaly observed in a country that does require it by law that the government is even more corrupt than ours!
We are members of the human race and I don't know that we will ever be able to live as we wish we could when we are governed by others.
I do beleive we need some form of government, I just don't know what the best one would be. What we have is better than everyone else's but that sure isn't saying much, is it?

When the conservative wackos stop believing that god is an American, and the Liberal wackos stop fearing that god is a muslim, we'll have turned a corner.
In the meantime, there is always good old agnostic beer.

While it sounds good to pat yourself on the back by saying you're going to vote for the guy who provides for the USA, instead of their political party, you are forgetting one thing.
There are 2 americas. There's a liberal america, and a conservative america.

Ok with this one section of your post you just removed any credible reason you have to pitch a bi**h about how things are going. If you don't vote just STFU because you had a chance to be heard, especially in the primary and tossed it away.

I'll have you know, I haven't missed a single vote in any Federal, State or Local election since I have been of age to vote.
And i'm sick of the "if you don't vote, you don't have a say" crap. If you don't vote simply because your an idiot and don't know what that special day in Tuesday is, then I get your point. But if your an informed and educated individual, and decide neither of the jackarses are worth your vote, thats a statement in itself.
I'm sorry, but if i'm allergic to apples and oranges, i'm not gonna vote on which fruit might make me less sick for the four years.
I pay my taxes and have done more volunteer work in four years of college, than a lot of Americans in a life time. If I want to complain about someone effecting my life, I damn sure will.
-
the ballot needs a "non of the above" choice.
-
Cav, your taxes do not qualify you for a darn thing. Example, felons who do not have the right to vote still have to pay taxes.
If you don't participate in how the country is run, do not want to either vote for or against a candidate you forfeited any right to complain. You don't like how things are going, get involved. Make your voice and interests heard.
If all you are going to do is simply throw a child's tantrum and pout thinking your pout and lack of participation means anything you are simply wrong. You are just going to be ignored and that is your fault. Pouting children do not gain credibility because they pout.
You want to change things, get involved. If you want to pout, go sulk in the corner and STFU since you aren't up to the effort involved to make a difference.
You just surrendered to those who you say are running things already and in effect tacitly gave your wholehearted approval for what they are doing.

Maverick, with all due respect, you don't know me, so don't tell me about volunteering my time. Since 2002 I have volunteered for six political campaigns, and have been staffed on two; both of which were for ind. candidates.
And just because you don't support someones idea's, because he voices his opinion, does not mean he is whining like a child.
And no one will force me to vote for something I am against. Currently, both major options I have are crap in my opinion, and I dont want either of them at the controls for the next four years. Starting in January, I will be volunteering for an ind. campaign knowing there is no chance of his winning. But hey, you disagree with my opinions, so i'm just a whiney child.

I think that you guys know the answer and are answering your own questions..
certainly we value life in that we don't take the lives of innocents... now... you may have an opinion on when a fetus is a person but... once that fetus is a person it is an innocent life. It should be protected under a just constitution...
now...some bum or some criminal or some flake who wants to live in a cereal bowl below the ocean level with no or with inadequate insurance... well... they have every right to do so.... I don't see why I should protect a full grown adult from his own bad choices. that is not what a constitution of a free people should be and I don't believe that is ours.
next.. we have the parent thing... that is not debatable... in most cases it is indeed the best for the child to have one of each...male and female in a loving family. That part is not debatable.. that does not mean that some families are not bad or that it is impossible to raise a kid any other way... it just means that we should strive to have children raised that way... nothing is 100% tho.
trajic loses of a father or mother happen... it is no ones fault.
I am having a hard time seeing the conflicts that caused the "rant".

cav.. that may have been harsh and I do see your point..
It does seem that both parties are trying their best to get more and more government into our lives.
I would say tho that... as a whole.... the democrats are running toward socialism and more and more government in our lives while the republicans are stumbling along... with the republicans you can see on the rare occasion a glimmer of common sense while... with the democrats...
you see nothing but menopausal women trying to run your life for your own good. Nothing they come up with do I ever agree is a good thing.
sadly.. that is the choices we have these days.
I would love to see the republicans return to a stance of smaller government and lower taxes and more individual freedom and a strong constitution... if they indeed ever really gave more than lip service to it.

Personally I think the government and any so called non-profit organization is throwing money down the hole if they are still "HELPING" anyone from New Orleans. Only ones with no homes are the lazy good for nothing bottom feeders and the ones that were living beyond their means.
-
I'll try you one more time Cav. Please note earlier in this thread I did not say anything about your volunteering. It was not a part of the discussion that I was referring to.
This is what I was referring to. I'll copy it from the first post I made about it.

Here is the key portion and exactly what I was referring to.
I'm not voting again until there is a candidate that is here to provide for THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. Not their political party.
The part that says you don't have justification to complain any more is:
Originally posted by cav58d I'm not voting again
Like I said before you have an option to participate or not and volunteering is not full participation either. If you participate you have grounds to complain about it as you at least tried to make a change. If you do not vote you cede victory and in effect give your tacit approval for the status quo. Anything you say after not voting is just a whine.
That's all I am referring to. If you do not vote, you gave up.
