A friend of the family inherited his grandad's Model HD pistol. He has no documentation for it and might have screwed something up trying to clean it. I looked at it this evening and I can't see what is holding the slide from retracting fully from in battery. The magazine is no factor in it. The slide pulls back but seems to hit an obstruction about an 1/8" before full retraction. The extractor is still masked and can't make contact with the case.
There is also a spring loaded pin sticking up from the top of the slide about an 1/8" as well.
I looked for some info on the web and found parts lists but no help on take down and maintenance.
Anyone have an idea other than the manufacturer or gunsmith for assistance?

Hit up a gunsmith and tell your friend to count himself very lucky. Another place to eyeball would be the High Standard Collector's Org (http://www.highstandard.org). If anyone knew what the problem is, I'm willing to bet these guys do. Original High-Standard .22s of that age are very highly prized. Especially the old military models!
The new High Standard company is in TX if you want to contact them or meet one of their gurus.
