I'm hoping "two-tier internet" doesn't come to pass but there are large companies pushing this...
Several US internet service providers (ISPs), including AT&T and
Verizon, have previously said that they want to charge some users more
money for certain content.
Hopefully Microsoft and Google who is fighting for "network neutrality" will stop it from happening..

I really don't believe as an end user this would be good and will limit choices...

What... so now we have to pay ATT just to access our pay pron sites?
-
Pron tax.
-
Will illegal aliens get both tiers for free and in spanish?
Will liberals subsequently apologize to those aliens because internet access requires basic computing skills?

No only you will, the rest of us will get it for free...
:p
Actually if I understand this correctly it means the porn site will have to pay AT&T in order to provide good bandwidth for you to view porn. If they don't pay it will take longer for you to download your porn.

In other news, the pron march to capitol hill. All pron webmasters and owners are marching on capitol hill screaming, "WE DON'T WANNA PAY TAXES!"

So, in other words the ISP's want to get money off of other people's job. ISP's shouldn't have any right to cash with content or services that are not theirs.
The Justice Department said imposing net neutrality regulations could hinder development of the internet and prevent ISPs from upgrading networks.
The agency said it could also shift the "entire burden of implementing costly network expansions and improvements onto consumers".
That's the problem? Well, don't give out intardnet connections for free. Consumers are going to pay for it eitherway.

This has been fought against for several years, but it looks like the big ISP's have finally greased enough politicians hands so we the people can get bent over.

ISP's want to be able to charge websites money so users can access the site at full speed. If they don't pay, the ISP will throttle back the speed their customers access the website at.
It will turn into legal blackmail and is nothing more than double dipping. Will eventually affect every website on the net including video games like the one we all play here.
This is our politicians once again working for the people by telling them to bend over and grab their ankles.

And when they add the caveat, "We have your personal download records!" the politicos will be keeping it in committee... it won't even get to a vote.

Al Gore figured it would be good to tax you for the second tier (even the pron) and use it to buy credits for your carbon footprint (that which you create by using the internet he invented, which is powered by electricity, which usually requires fuel to be burned to produce, which releases CO2, which heats the globe, which will kill us all anyway....)
So..........................w hy make us pay for the second tier again?

It's not you that will be paying.. Well in the end we will all be paying, but this will cost website operators money or anyone whom serves data on the internet. (ie even this game might be affected)
Your ISP already charges you for your service. By getting rid of net neutrality, the ISP can turn around and hold websites and data providers hostage. They will do it by limiting the speed you a user can connect to that website, in effect putting that website on the lower tier. If the website wants it's visitors to have fast access, they will have to pay your ISP money to get the speed bumped up.
So in essence if you pay for High Speed internet, you might start getting ripped off, because your ISP will start cutting back the speed you can download stuff on the net. So in effect the ISP will be double dipping, charging you the consumer and the data providers.

If they do a two tier system, mark my words....pRon and sports will be on the 2nd tier....its what most men (non-pink-shorts-wearing type) live for...sex and competition.
