Ok, I just got a subscription to MA after you guys all talked me into it.
It is fun, except for the 10 minute flight to the NME and the basic feeling that I don't know WTH is going on.
Can you guys point me to a resource that explains how to capture feilds and what destroying certain feild objects acheives?
I know capping a field has something to do with blowing the city up and putting a vehicle in it, and that blowing the field fuel and ORD areas cuts off fuel and ordinance, but is there a site that details all this?
There should be a "how to play MA" sticky.

As far as shorter flights, look for CV vs airfield action, base defense, and areas affectionately called "FT" or "TT" (Fightertown or Tanktown, respectively).
As far as not knowing WTH is going on... don't worry- there's 6000+ who don't know either. :)

Actually capping a field is a term that means you take out all the ack guns on the airfield and have enough fighters flying over it so that no nme fighters can get off the ground.

MA gameplay is sort of hard to define honestly.
field capture has been defined by HiTech himself as a device to promote engagements.
"winning the war" is where 1 country takes the majority of the bases, I forget the exact numbers, but IIRC we will use the rooks in this example. The rooks must "own" 60% of the knights fields, 60% of the bishops fields, and 100% of their own fields.
those %'s may be wrong, but it is not documented on the HTC help page I see.
those numbers are based on the countries "home" fields, which are decided when a map first comes up. each team starts with an equal number of bases.
the way to capture a base is to destroy every building in the town, then have 10 troops get into the map room while those buildings are still down. for bases without towns like vehicle bases all the ack must be down (so they don't kill the troops) and 10 troops must get into the map room.
there are many other aspects to the strategic gameplay, and many in-game disagree which is the beast and most fun method, but that is the basics.
besides the different thoughts on the best way to "win the war" people differ on what is "fun". some like to bomb bases, some capture fields, some furball, some just use GV's, it is almost endless.
what is the real point of the MA? find what you find is fun and do it. don't worry what others think about it, do what you enjoy.

1) look for the red dar bar
2) fly there
3) enjoy in moderation
thats all I got ;)

Welcome to the real Game Orwell
-
In LW the percentages for victory are 40% of Other country 1, 40% of other country 2, and 90% of your own fields. EW and MW are 33%(I think) instead of 40.
Very wise choice asking for the links rather than just whining, if more people did that we would help more often.
Keep on tryin maybe one day you will be able to keep up with the legend that is CBass.:D

Glad to have u Orwell

Greetings,
The 10 min flight is needed. (but then, I like the Jug). Plenty of time to look at the map, see what is where, call on country for altitude of the engagement, get a beverage, get rid of a beverage, relax and prepare that zen like state for the fight.
Also, if you get kilt, you have to fly 10 min to get back into it. Incentive, no?
Welcome, give it time, find a squad and have fun. :)
Regards,

Look for a big red bar over a blinking green base :)
-
If its red its dead.. if its bish it hoes and rams ;)

orwell welcome to the MA.
If you want to learn about base captures and what does what I think you should probably join in some base capture missions.
Learn on the run so to speak.
Not knowing what is going on is pretty much they standard starting point.
If you need to know what is what at bases there are clipboard maps that show you what is on each base IE fighter, bomber, vehicle hangers etc etc etc..
I know there will be those that will flame the "follow the horde" idea but this will show you how to go about base captures etc etc etc..
Good Luck.
Btw just think about it a bit.. Killing all fighter hangers no more fighters can up from base, vehicle hangers no more vehicles etc etc etc..
To capture base entire town must be destroyed and 10 troops must make it into map room..
Other than this learn on the run..

According to the masses, to sucessfully adapt to MA gameplay you must master these tactics:
1) HO-ing
2) Vulching
3) Picking
4) Milk Running
5) Dweebery in general
By mastering those tactics, flying solely Spit 16's or LA-7's you will fit in nicely with the MA crowd.

Welcome to the crowd Orwell. One thing i gotta know... what side are you flying for?
I'll put in easy terms for you
Bishops:Best basetakers and a good crowd in general. They work together the best. They are also the MASTERS of the Horde
Knights:Work together on certain occasions. Sorta rare to see. (i'm a knight). We have a fare amount of the really "skilled" pilots. We probably furball the most. if you come knights, ENY will never been a problem.Knights are a great crowd.
Rooks:Usualy will just launch an all out offensive on both sides. Deffinetly the most skilled pilots are here. No offense, i feel most of the new guys are here as well.
Really, its up to your stlye of flying.
