Title: Bangkok or Bust: Frame 1 Scores
Post by: APDrone on September 11, 2007, 08:23:29 PM
Greetings Combatants!

Congratulations on a well fought slug-fest.

Here are the scores for Frame 1.  The axis fared far better in destroying their strategic targets, but paid a dear price in aircraft lost.

I'm kinda in a hurry so I'll just dump this out here and let y'all mull it over for a couple hours.

Good luck in Frame 2!

Umm shouldn't the 1410 be scored in the Allied column and the 915 in the Axis column?  For a total of

Allied - 2011
Axis - 1264.

How did we only destroy 40% of the train, my squad took the train out and we destroyed the whole thing.  Have video if needed.

The logs say 4 of 10 train cars were destroyed.  Please send me the film if you can prove otherwise.

I reverified there are 10 cars in the train today.

Sorry I misread the Axis / Allied target points.  Late nights, early mornings, something about 24 hours in a day and having a manger who would like me to see them all.

Ok, I'll have the video to you by at the latest tomorrow, I know some of my guys were recording so as soon as I get it from them I'll send it in, also Gaidin was there and he was the one who took out the last car so if you wanna talk to him about it he can verify.

I haven't got the video from my squad yet, but I was going over are log and it shows that we destroyed 4 train cars and I remember that being the whole train, so unless there was a second train that was supposed to get taken out that was the only one we saw and it had 3 cars and the engine.  As soon as I get the video I'll send it.

I was wondering how many unique objects the train had, but when I looked at the raw logs they showed  C01trnXXX where XXX was 002, 003, 005, 006.  So, when I saw that I assumed there was more cars (ie 001, 004, 007 etc), but AP will have to confirm how many are in the train as the objects are normally 001 to 0ZZ where ZZ is the total number and they are usually sequential.

I flew a B24 raid on the same train offline and scored 10 train destroyed messages and 2 gun emplacements.  That's what the total objects were based on.  This also jives with previous FSOs where trains were targets.

Not sure what else to think.  If I see the film and the whole train appears to have been destroyed, then I'll adjust credit accordingly.  Kinda hard to press an attack on something that isn't visible.

So, the truck convoy at 37 is worth 50 points and the train is worth 100? Seems like it should be equal. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Convoys don't shoot back.

Typically the scoring is set to balance an event.  It's not always going to match what someone might think is logical, but there is generally a reason.

Gaidin reviewed his film and it looks like on the first pass the train was cut in half and no one noticed the engine pulled the cars still attached, so no one noticed the cars left behind so the score is right, sorry for the confusion.

So the lesson here is kill the engine first to get stationary targets ;)

Thanks for checking and letting us know.

Yeah I reviewed the film and I was the first one to fire on the target.  I was attempting to hit the guns so my guys where not flying into a hail of bullets.  I killed the gun that first pass and the one right behind me broke the train in half.  The engine kept going and we went after the moving part.
