Paint Shop Pro 5

Does anyone know how to take a color picture and grayscale it, then paste a color image or object on top of it without the new layer changing to grayscale also??  This has to be a simple task but I can't figure it out.  Thanks

Not what I had originally envisioned but it will work...

I'd have to do some massive searching without guarantees it will work for you. Yet I found a tutorial (A long time ago) that uses layers to make images where the entire image is grayscale except for red lips or the colors of some flowers in the picture, etc...

Like I said, no guarantee it will work with your program since the tutorial is for Adobe PS7, yet I can still try finding it.

I tried to use different layers but once I made one layer or the background grayscale, any additional layer or image I applied became grayscale.  I found several tutorials but none really touched on this subject.  I have not spent very much time with this program so I will keep fiddling with it.  Thanks for the reply,
