Are you running Vista?  Norton Securoty?  I am trying to nail down what is locking the game's ability to auto-update.  I suspect it is Norton Security, as a subset of it ships with Vista and it is enabled by default.

I do not think you can disable McAfee nor Norton under Vista.  Many thjings do not disable under Vista when you tell them to.

Vista itself, under its stock configuration, may actually be blocking the port.  I am still researching as to why this is happening as it has never happened to my Vista computer at the office, but I have done amjor re-configuration changes in order to be able to do my job.

Nope, you cant. Just tried this for an hour on my fathers new rig (Mcaffee pre-installed). Which is why I just wiped it and installed XP Pro, AVG, and a router (<-best LAN high speed security anyways). The thing runs like a raped ape now.
