Title: Rearm Pads
Post by: NOT on September 16, 2007, 04:13:42 AM
it would be nice if there was a rearm pad at V-bases.

Maybe like 1 or 2 rearms for a base...until it gets resupplied...then there are 1 or 2 rearms again...

Id like the rearm pads to be slightly larger or just have a spot on the runway itself for rearming.

Reason?

Makes it easyer to rearm large bombers without risking to smack the wings in the building next to the pad.

I agree, the system used on the CVs works very well.

I would like to see you be able to change ord load outs on rearm pads. You just landed in your P-51D from attacking a VBase which is covered with vehicles. Your last sortie you only took guns to protect friendly bombers from enemy fighters, but now you need rockets and bombs. instead of ending sortie you just roll onto the rearm pad and load rockets and bombs.

That and/or gun load outs as well, also I woulden't mind seeing some sort of re-arm pad that could do repairs, or maybe if you drove it into the fighter/bomber hanger, you could get repairs done. Obviously the time for that would be a bit longer.

maybe repairing your plane could cost a few perk points? Fix flaps cost 5 perks, aileron 10, elevator 10, radiator and oil 20, etc etc.

sorry to be a wet blanket but i disagree with all,
these things would give you every mode possible easy mode for large kill streaks, thats the challenge dont get hurt and plan ahead otherwise just land:o

So you exit out, get your name in lights, pick a new plane/loadout.

Rearms don't repair damage, they just hot load the same load you started with.

You want changes, then accept the consequences.  :)

do u mean for GV's or for aircraft? if it is for aircraft u would need a runway which would turn a Vbase in2 an airfield . but if u do mean for a GV then id have thought they had 1 allready (but obviously not or u woudnt have mentioned it).

i mean for aircraft. you dont need a runway, just the pad.

if this is supposed to be a realistic or as realistic as possable then u would need a runway just for accuracy's sake( so a vbase would become an airfield) . i know u can land and take of without a runway but in "real life" landings at bases other than airfields was only done in an emergancy situation which is the way its used now by people who have run low on fuel or have battle damage.

Would be nice to see re-arming pad at VBase as well as the options of changing your load out so my vote for both is yes :aok

"i know u can land and take of without a runway etc"

Bear in mind that a lot of the runways in WW2 were simple grass strips, especially in the Pacific, where there wasn't much of a distinction between airfields and supply dumps and vehicle bases etc. This is starting to stray onto the topic of having SeaBee construction workers to modify the bases.

The problem with having a rearm pad at a vehicle base is that lots of people will sit on the pad all the time for a continual reload, which would probably have the effect of helping the attacking bombers more than anything, because the bombers could simply bomb the pad to get 15+ kills.

The problem with being able to modify your weapons loadout is that Hitech would need to work up a GUI for this to happen, which sounds simple but would probably require a fair amount of testing etc - and why not simply exit the plane and pick up a new one? Perhaps you want to land a huge kill streak, but in practice there will always be someone who is willing to land a huger kill streak, so it's a mug's game.

You cannot rearm at a Vehicle base ... because ... they aren't setup to handle airplanes ... just vehicles. They typically WOULD NOT have the correct supplies needed to rearm airplanes.

You can rearm on a CV because they WOULD have the necessary supplies to rearm aircraft ... after all, that was their purpose ... a floating/moving airfield.

Changing the load has been asked for (at airfields) many times.

I would be in favor of it ... if you had to sit on the pad for say ... 5 minutes ... to change the load out.

I would like all rearm pads done away with........... they are gamey anachronisms left over from AH beta IMO.............

However I would  like "vehicle" supplies enabled for stationary aircraft even if the were different to vehicle supplies and called aircraft supplies.

OK, so the V-base that loads .50 Cals in jeeps and tanks wouldn't have .50 cals for a Pony?

And the CV can reload the 4000 lbs bomb on my Lanc.

-Just sayin

What about making a bomber hangar *also* a rearm point?  Would that be big enough?

That's been asked for before
I agree that some should be able to be done i.e. flaps, ailron, and rudder because how they break off in the game, in RL they'd just need to be bolted back down.

Pilot wounds; sure why not throw in a different pilot d:

Oil/fuel leaks no because that could be a problem with the lines which could take god-knows how long to repair

I think there should be like a more advanced damage system so if you open up your damage list if it's green, it's fine, yellow, repairable and red, your stuck with it till you get a fresh plane

that's my perspective on it.
