I missed the great fights I had in the AvA arena. Lets try and get it going again for atleast one more time before the changes. If you liked te AvA arena then lets all horde the arena today or tomorrow. What time is everyone good for?
-
I'll be on tonight (end of a week of days...ho hum).......so will take a look around......no doubt it'll be my usual - up a plane, fly around, die scenario...lol.....but I'll be up......

"all horde the arena today or tomorrow"
Gee, there wouldn't be a need for any changes if you all did that to begin with.
Nobody goes there, its as deserted as a pub on xmas morning, and when there is a change announced to get more than 5 players in there, well, holy s*** lets all horde in there, before its "ruined"? Pfft.
Might as well just close it. You get more action in the DA from drunken players who who clicked on the wrong arena!
:lol
-
I'd like to see atleast 20 people in there (like the old days). I don't know why people don't go there, it's a fun place. I just thought if we got a few people in there then more would join in and we'd have a fun historical fight for once.
-
What is this big sweeping change you fear?
-
I got a bad taste in my mouth the last couple times i have been in AvA. I thought it was more about the fight in AvA. Its just as bad as main with the high alt cherry pickers and gang bang score gods that run in a certain circle. Squad members switching sides to call out directions names so to make sure they don't come in contact in a 1v1. You can call it good team work what it all boils down to is that its a mini main with less planes.
The team switching squad spies is what really put a bad taste in my mouth.

There are some discussions open about what way the community would like the AvA to go to, see the Axis vs Allies discussion forum. The goal would obviously to get some more active players to the arena, with a style of play that would be good for the furballers, the bomber dudes and all.
FX1, with the low numbers it's about whom are online. Some people like the 1v1, other individuals the 5v1. As there's no enforced side balancing, it's up to the individuals how they behave. Nothing different from the MA's, except than most regulars leave 1v1's or at least 2v1's alone. You could give it another try with better luck. :)
Cheers,
Panzzer

I went in there 2 weeks ago and stayed all night - great arena - good plane matchups and just about everyone in there is a good stick.
Will be going back frequently.

I've never seen anybody do this FX1. Not saying it never happened just saying that if it did I think it's a rarity. I should be able to get on tonight around 8:00 cst.
You're welcome to come blast me out of the sky :D

Didja ever wonder...
Why MA players go in the AvA and complain "It's just like the MA" but the AvA players never go in the MA and say "It's just like the AvA".
-
AvA hasnt been fun since it was the CT. I do miss it though. Thats where i learned how to fly in AH. Usually had 40-50 guyz on friday night. Most MA players couldnt hack in there though. (might actually have to learn ACM)
-
Just got back from the AvA. Still fun, 5 people on (1 afk), 2 on 2 fight. Had more fun there just now than I have in the MA. Me and SirLoin fighting 109's in a pony and P-38.
WMDnow, SirLoin, and all whom I shot down :D

Did that hit home Kong?
Tell you the truth I was playing AvA more last months than main. I do love this game and i will be back in AvA when i start to have time to fly. What we need to do is eliminate score form this one arena and see if it helps with the game play.
I was trying to get WOT over to fly in AvA a night or two to combat the gang lords but shawk would have no part in it because he his the ultimate score puppet of all time (:
-
LOL FX1...SHawk? Score?...Naa, I don't believe it.....LOL

:rofl Comon now. If it really was as good as people say it is, wouldn't be full of people? That is exactly what happens. Few people are there having fun fights then more people come in and convert it to a mini MA and every one leaves. Then people start posting, few go back, the fun fights start, more people show up and convert it to a mini MA and it is back to empty. Repeat

i'm there

I wish it was more of a "realistic mission" arena instead of a "realistic matchup" arena.

FX1 imagine what other people feel during your scenario.
its somthing like this:
1) dweebs flying around having fun
2) Fx1 uber-dweeb logs in and kicks the crap out of them repeatedly
3) dweebs want revenge for dying in a 5 second fight every time
4) dweebs try to kill FX1 uber-dweeb
5) dweebs fail and think of a new plan
6) dweebs change sides to spy on uber-dweeb to make sure they dont have to fight him because it was leaving 'a bad taste in thier mouths'
;)

This isn't about just FX this scenario plays over and over:
1)Good MA stick who pwns in the MA used to safety flying with alt in groups in uber plane
2)Good stick decides it's time to pwn the AvA dweebs.
3)Good stick does ok but not pwning.
4)Good stick decides to safety fly to regain pwnage.
5)Good stick still not pwning and the whole arena is made aware of safety tactics.
6)Good stick used to the anonymity of the MA doesn't like the exposure.
7)Frustrated stick sais, "This sucks because it's just like the MA" then goes to the arena they just said sucked.
And finally, If you think the AvA regulars avoid good players. You have no concept of the typical mindset of the AvA regular.

IMHO, AvA is a "clinic" to hone your ACM. 90% of the players in there fit this profile:
- Are very skilled in 1 vs 1 combat with no clear advantages
- Have a sense of fair play and are good sportsmen
- Care more about having a good fair fight rather than W/L or score
- Are good natured and love to talk/analyze the fights
It's not for everyone of course - actually it's not for most! ...but if you want to go to a place where you'll improve your game quickly, AvA is it.

Very true! They always try to get into a fight with them. The problem is, they all try at the same time :rofl
