...and Ages come and pass, leaving memories that become legend. Legend fades to myth, and even myth is long forgotten when the Age that gave it birth comes again. In one Age, called the Third Age by some, an Age yet to come, an Age long past, a wind rose. The wind was not the beginning. There are neither beginnings nor endings to the turning of the Wheel of Time. But it was a beginning.
Robert Jordan: October 17, 1948 – September 16, 2007
As someone who has been reading his WOT series since 1991, I am saddened by his passing and the end of the world he created. The rumor is that he dictated and outlined the last book before his death but it remains to be seen. Regardless, a Vietnam vet and a great author was taken too early from us yesterday. May he rest in peace.

Robert Jordan.
He was one of the best Fantasy writers of all time.

I lost interest in the fourth of his series back in the 90's. Perhaps I'll give it another go.

Sad news .. I hadn't heard :(
May he rest in peace .... he had a rare disease, but deadly, and went through painful measures in the fight for life ...
He lived an incredible life, with stories of him shooting an in-flight RPG with some kind of machine gun. He wrote incredible stories, that many here probably enjoyed.
His wife Harriet is going to finish the Wheel of Time series I've heard. He was hoping to have it done for early 2009 I think, but it was/is a huge book... She may understandably take longer, but I think you will see the final novel, he seemed to truly want to finish this final book, if no other. He was only 58.
Rest in peace.
