Got this from another BBS and dont have the link, just the quote:
"Politician in Nebraska lodges criminal complaint against God
Lincoln (AP) A member of Parliament in the State of Nebraska has lodged a criminal complaint against God. Ernie Chambers alleges that God is responsible for terroristic threats, spreads fear and has caused "death, destruction and terror amongst millions upon millions of Earth inhabitants". The complaint has been submitted in the district of Douglas. Chambers considers the courts there to be competent, as God is everywhere.
According to his own statement, with this thrust the Senator wants to bring attention to the abstruse sides of the American legal system, in which everyone can take legal action against anybody. He has picked on God because he is critical of religion anyway and always skives off from morning prayers during parliamentary sessions. God has caused tornadoes, floods and hurricanes, explained Chambers. He will now at the least stop these with a temporary injuction."
I'd love to see the face of the fella who gets to serve the injunction.

see wikipedia. Entry on Ernie Chambers:
"Chambers sues God
In September of 2007, Ernie Chambers filed a law suit against God as a statement against a bill that would limit the ability of citizens to file frivilous lawsuits. Chambers was quoted as having said, "The Constitution requires that the courthouse doors be open, so you cannot prohibit the filing of suits. "Anyone can sue anyone they choose, even God."

That's his whole point. He made this to show how people are abusing the tort system by filing frivolous lawsuits. His ire stemmed from a case in which a judge served with a frivolous lawsuit by someone that claimed the judge denied them their Freedom of Speech.
ack-ack

Anyone want to bet that Ernie shuffles off this mortal coil within the next year?
-
I would be kinda interested in how he served the summons and complaint, must have been by publication cuz personal service would have been a tough one.

True but think about it.
No matter what side of the coin you look at it.
If it were able to go forward. (and yes I know very well it wont)
There would be no choice but to find God guilty.
Could potentially backrupt the Vatican.
This is one time when God would have atheists on his side LMAO

Nope.. it's true.
Chambers makes a living at stirring the pot. He's trying to bring attention to ludicrous lawsuits. Rumor has it that term limits will send him packing next year.

So are you absolving the Baptists, Presbyterians, Lutherans, etc. etc. from responsibility for God?

The Catholic Church is the oldest ,probably the largest (note I said probably. I dont know for sure) and makes the claim of being the one true Christian religeon.
It also has the most money.
So I say. Let them assume responcability if they want it so much.
To quote what a good friend of mine once said.
"If the vatican was serious about helping the world. The Pope would have sold his crown long ago"
-
Got a news flash for you, they ALL make the "we're the chosen of God" claim.

I know.
But the three that scream it the loudest are The Catholic Church.
The Jewish, and the Muslims.
Of the three The vatican has the most money.
And tends to want to suck the most money from its followers.
Plus I have utter contempt for the Catholic Church LOL

No watermelon sherlock, I kinda figured that out on my own.

He's trying to bring attention to himself.

Maybe they can get Morgan Freeman to stand in.
What will they swear him in on?
-
Already been a film about it.
Billy Connelly, 'The Man who Sued God'.

Actually, if you took the Bible as absolute truth, God would be absolved, as it clearly teaches that sin, death, suffering, and such, are a result of man's sin; which has corrupted God's perfect creation.
