Bill Moyers hosting it then? I'm sure it will be a thoughtful, even-handed piece:lol

Why would anyone have problems with the existance of PBS? Am I missing something here?
The only gripe I ever had with them were the 20 min. commercial breaks between 10. min movie showings.

It's a right-wing thing.
-
Actually, it's a right-wing thing brought on by a left-wing thing.
But don't quote me on that.
-
Well I just finished watching the first installment. So far I don't feel that I've been subverted by any left wing agenda. They must be slicker and more coniving than I thought.
-
thanks for the reminder .. treadmill cable dvr recording now
-
watching it now...flew home as fast as i could. so far so good.

I just finished watching the first one. So far Im very impressed.

Classic Ken Burns.
-
yep.
:aok

Just watched the second episode, missed the first one. Grr.
Really well done, some unbelievable footage, and very powerful and immersive stories. Gets a little slow at times, but overall a fantastic documentary.
I understand there are 7 episodes, 2 hours each, no commercials. Ya?
People expecting "Saving Private Ryan" style movie will be disappointed.

Left-wing/right-wing ~ whatever. their children's programming is incredible.

as rpm said...
as long as they don't become like the BBC we are all good though :aok
and as TXmom said childerns programming is good. I don't know if they still show re-runs of Mr. Rogers Neighborhood, but I hope they do. oh and I hope they don't get all "PC" with sesame street as I heard they had cookie monster eating vegetables. :furious :lol

I have no problem at all with the existence of PBS... I just don't think that we should have money extorted from us (taxes) go to pay for any of it.

They're alot of things that I don't like having taxes extorted from me to pay for. Of all the many things on the list PBS certainly isn't at or even near the top of that list.
-
no.. nor mine either.. but, it is a simple one and a clear abuse. It should be easy to rectify and then we can move upward from there.
