Is that gif animation about IE user versus Firefox user?

What? Oh, Firefox.

FireFox :)

FireFox.
And Windows Explorer is different from Internet Explorer.
Someone needs to chime in with Netscape Navigator. Knowing you gummers... :D
-
Firefox. I do have IE 6.6 as a back up, as some sites don't work with Firefox.
-
I've only seen one so far that hasn't and isn't Microsoft's. That was only because they coded in a "feature" that forces you to use IE.
-
both
-
Firefox.
I doubt you'll find many tooting IE's horn... I'd guess that most people that use IE haven't ever heard of Firefox or are afraid to break their computer by installing it (because they're not techno-literate).
I only use IE for certain things that don't work well with Firefox (OWA, MS CMS, etc.). Now that I think about it, most of that is MS crap.

I’ve tried Firefox, but still prefer IE. I see too many things in Firefox that don’t work properly; especially on my school Intranet. I also have a lot of files directly on my home PCs’ HDs that also don’t open properly in Firefox. I wouldn’t be surprised if I’m the only one who’ll admit to using IE though. IE isn’t as secure as Firefox, but I think it does alright and I want things to work. I think most Firefox users are unaware of what they don’t see because it’s typically minor.
Here are the browser stats from my site so far this month after 717 visitors:
MS Internet Explorer 69.7 %
Firefox 21.6 %
Safari 4.4 %
Mozilla 1.4 %
Opera 1.2 %
Unknown 1.1 %
Netscape 0.1 %

either or, depends on how i'm feeling.
firefox is often annoying in general and frequenty crashes on this computer.

I use IE. I like it, it works well for me so why change?

Would you care to explain that to me? I don't have a clue about what that signifies.

It means that he is not yet aware that IE-7 also has tabs. (Have you dowbloaded IE-7 yet Mark?)

Instead of opening another browser window, they are tabbed

I'm aware that IE 7 has tabs. I'm also aware of it's multitude of flaws and vulnerabilities, lack of backwards compatibility, issues with external plug ins, horrifying rendering engine, and general crappiness. :)
Then again, a browser in 2007 that is only 5.7 MB to download, has a better rendering engine, an open SDK for third party add-ons (of which I use quite a few), and built in tabbed browsing, now that's sexy.

I wouldn't. it breaks things. AND it's totally uninstallable by a normal user.
-
" that is only 5.7 MB to download"
IE comes on computers...whats your point?
" has a better rendering engine,"
does it? i've never noticed a difference.
"an open SDK for third party add-ons (of which I use quite a few), "
and i dont use any. nice feature, not necessarily an improvement.
"and built in tabbed browsing"
which caused great annoyance to me until i figured out how to disable new tabs from openeing on a scroll wheel click.
it does have a built in spell check though, which is great. it makes the bugs and random crashing almost bearable.

I use both.
Firefox is better.
Not just a little better either

Firefox.
It isn't that Firefox displays a website incorrectly, it displays what has been coded just fine. The website was written in non-standard code to support IE, which doesn't use the standards agreed upon in standards committees that MS is a member of. It's marketing. They're just trying to force their way as a de facto standard, even if their way isn't very good.
The best reason for anyone to use Firefox is that it does not support Microsoft's proprietary virus delivery application, ActiveX.

(Explaining my original post)
IE just wont keep me logged in here. It crashes a lot more then Fox. No tabbed browsing for IE6. Cant upgrade IE on this computer without being a "Skuzzy-Class" Computer Expert. :furious
Olny problem with FireFox. it doesn't render the smilies on here correctly..
So IMHO: IE sucks..
-
Firefox.
Eskimo/David - I'll check out your site from time to time. Good work btw!

Speaking of Firefox.
If you havent seen the post I made in the Skins Forum some time ago
There is a nifty little addon I used to Download all the downloadable skins for the game called
"Download them all"
Where you can check little boxes and download anything and everythng from a page.
I was giggling MAO as I was watching skin after skin after skin DL with a simple click.
I was definately not looking forward to downloading them one at a time.
doing it this way made me positively giggy.
IMO its how the skin DLS should be made available in the first place
Another note on IE as opposed to FF
One problem I see alot on IE is pages that wont load. Or I shoudl say they will load but do not show anything.
Says "done" at the bottom of the window but the webpage itself will sometimes be blank untill I hit the reaload button.
I dont get that with Firefox and I find firefox loads pages considerably faster then IE

Firefox displays smilies just fine. Sorry, but there is something wrong with your system or installation, not Firefox.

i dunno what the problem is, I can still tell whats what(some smilies aren't affected..). Of course the problem traced back to when i reinstalled Firefox after a virus basically destroyed my system. :cry

Assuming your running the plug in "No script"
did you try clicking "allow" for Hitechcreations.com?
Same thing happened to me when I reinstalled everything on my new hard drive
-
I switched when I couldn't stop the browser Hijacks and Messenger hacks with IE. Haven't had a problem since. Firefox has never crashed on me.

I recently installed a new version on my home 'puter but don't remember which version. I'll have to check when I get home.

Thanks lazer that fixed most of the smilies.. but not
-
The reason I use Firefox now, is because my I.E. would make my gmail, photobucket, yahoo mail, & other high traffic sites freeze up & say "Not Responding" every fluff'n time.
Firefox is the nen generation of browsers that have put I.E. on teh back shelf w/ Netscape & or Lycos.
Teh ony thing that is really weird, is that the frigg'n animated avatards go through teh frames REALLY faaaaaaasssstttt. :lol Can I change that??? [shrug]
Smilies & other graphics rock along w/ the freaking fast connections btwn pages n' stuff.
+ I got this when I downloaded it :D

P.S. It also tells you what words have been miss spelled :aok
-
FireFox, being in the spirit of open source, also allows you to mess with everything and anything. It also allows pipelining (the opening of multiple connections to speed up the downloading of pages and I believe files as well).
Type "about:config" sans quotes in your FF address bar. Search for "pipe." Enable it and turn both integer values up to 15 or 20. Pages ought to load faster. However some sites that don't allow "download managers" will have a fit.
To those who complain of crashes, Firefox 2.x comes with a recovery system. When it crashes, you just open the app again and it asks you if you would like to return to all the pages you were currently at with history intact. Sometimes I'll use the task manager to manually end firefox.exe so I can restore the session later.
-
I've always found Firefox faster then IE, maybe it's just my imagination but I don't think so. For some reason IE won't let me change my homepage anymore. I've had it as the Hitech Creations website for years but now it's stuck on one for HP. So Firefox is all I use.

Don`t worry. A couple shots of penicillin and it will go away.

I use Firefox. I tried Maxthon, which has some good features but its a little buggy.

I think the question is Firefox or Opera. For old computers Opera is definitely better. Firefox is not issue free. Memory leaks (browser using more RAM the longer you use it), or problems updating (http://flimflan.com/blog/FirefoxErrorResolvedOneOrMoreFilesCouldNotBeUpdated.aspx) that remind you Firefox is not 100% professional. In any case, I'm sold to its extensions. These ones I consider 100% useful:
all in one gestures (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/12)
paste & go 2 (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/3035)
speed dial (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/4810)
(check comments for known issues)
These 3 extensions come with Opera by default, although in a simpler implementation.
-
everything loads ..and loads faster.
a few years ago I still needed IE to pay bills but now everybody I deal with is Firefox competent.
never ever crashes on me.;)

Firefox/Opera

Firefox !

Firefox -- for the adherence to standards and because it is faster. I also use the following extensions:
Colorzila
Web Developer
IE Tab
Gmail Manager
PDF Download
Foxmarks
I still use IE (usually in a firefox tab) for OWA and to check web sites that I'm developing. And usually I have to spend 2 to 3 times as long to resolve IE issues with website code then it does with firefox. And I usually have the most problems with IE not handling CSS or javascript correctly. And IE6 and IE7 treat the errors differently.
