Title: Wireless
Post by: IronDog on September 24, 2007, 07:49:09 AM
It would appear that the introduction of a wireless setup,so that my wife and I can be on the internet at the same time,is the culprit in my freezes.I've tried everything, and I can't fix it.If someone could give me an idea where my problem might be,I'd appreciate it.
I'm using two Linksys adapter cards.I've tried ethernet, and wireless. My computer is the one with the Qwest 2701 modem.I won't be able to fly AH
with all these crashes.Sigh!

ID, how do you have it set-up?

In my case I have cable (charter) connecting to my cable modem, that connects to a linksys router with both "wired" and "wireless" set-up. The router connects to 3 computers with cat5 cables to linksys network cards. Both my kids use the wireless set-up for their laptops, as well as my mother in law next door. Only time I get lag is if the kids are downloading big files.

I run my home LAN the same way as Fugitive. 4 computers connected by CAT5 hard-wired wall jacks. I run 3 wireless laptops on the same router as well.

Knowing your configuration will help to isolate the problem and hopefully solve the issue.

I've used several kinds of wireless LANS (802.11b and 802.11g) with AH1 and AH2. I've used them EXTENSIVELY. No problems ever. Even with 5 or 6 people here in my house and 3 or 4 others joining across Internet, the performance has been indistinguishable from direct, hardwired Ethernet connections. When it's set up properly, it works very very well with Aces High.

I've published a few general guidelines (nothing specific to AH, just a very basic introduction to wireless LANs) on my web site here:
