hi
Has anyone here tried submitting there custom fields or towns or what ever to HTC to see will incoperate them into the main arena maps?
the idea of the object editor and such was to encourage this i just wanted to know if any one hs done it
-
No custom objects allowed in MA maps. You can on SEA maps and not sure on AvA maps.
-
i was talking to skuzzy about submitting custom objects or things made in the object editor using the items already provided by HTC.Eg making new airfields and submitting them.
He said that this had been the idea when they made this avaible for people to submit items too them to see if they could be used for the main arenas.
but it appears that it never got to the stage of any one submitting anything
I know it says no custom objects in MA maps
if the custom object is submitted for approval just like we subbmit skins now they can look and test them and decide if they can be added to the game.
things built now may look great but not be pratical, but if they were checked by HTC and approved we could add more imersion and variation to the game
-
I'd love it if that were to happen. Croduh should send his stuff in. Seen his ships? Would make the fleet look so much better.
-
Most of custom objects might look better but eat up frame rates big time. Those ships i made have no lods, but even if they did they would still be a big frame rate hit, there is always a lot of planes flying in the air in MAs, so that's the problem.
-
The ships are nice, yet unless HTC decides to place the guns on them and pretty much finish the ship for him I don't believe it will be accepted.
Overall I think the "submit and wait for approval" process was designed for custom OE objects designed with objects currently available in the OE.

i just got a email reply from Skuzzy
Aparently no one has ever submitted anything in to him to be added to the terrain editor.
I told of my idea to do a different port and he said HTC are open to submisson for new things using there object editor and possiable some custom objects.
Some of you guys have done new fields ect using the object editor, try sending something in and see waht they say.I am going too hell even some thing slightly different to what we got is going to be a change.

Yesss! Now to make some new and interesting things.:D

Interesting, can you use 3dmax and import objects into the game editor? Or do you have to build everything in the game editor from scratch?
I used to do a lot of 3d stuff for games and used 3dmax a lot. I was planning to eventually start playing around with maps, but I hate the idea of just building a terrain then plopping down pre-built objects on it.
I like to build maps and have objects that are built for that specific map, to give it a more complete feel.
-
You can use 3DMax if you can export objects with hierarchy tree & properties data to the AC3D (.ac) format.
-
This is where I don't like too much custom stuff.
The MA should be nueteral as far as objects go IMO. When Waffle Joined he made everything ETO style. Which looks good, but is not convenient for people working on a PTO terrain. Pine trees in the Pacific Jungles looks out of place and I had to replace them, making the terrain 30mb+
With skins submitted online, there is can be a download in-game to view these skins. With new objects, terrains have to be rebuilt, re-downloaded by all players, new TE and OE released, etc.
-
to start i think at the moment HTC only want things submitted made from there objects in there object editior.
depending how this goes maybe they will accept some custom made new objects.
lets see how things progress first .lets walk before we can run

Ask MrMidi, he uses 3DMax to make custom objects for AH.
-
You can create them in 3DMax and save them as a .3ds file then import that
file into AC3D. Being more familar with 3dMax thats the way I do it, but
I'm getting more use to AC3D every day,
You can create your 3D objects in what ever program you are the most comfortable with
then save it as a 3ds file, and import it to AC3D to do the
higharcy,or if you have a .ac export plugin in your 3d software.
I am not aware of a .ac export for 3dMax.
