Landing in the Ocean? Give me a break.
Today I nailed a guy flying a jug...he put the airplane in the ocean. I expected to get the kill there after. Surprisingly, the scroller didnt report his death. I went to look for him, and he was gone.
HTC please change the texture of the ocean. If the plane would automatically be destroyed when it hits the water, that would be helpful. Im not asking for the water to be animated or anything, all I would like is to see the airplane be destroyed once in water. In real life, the airplane would more than likely sink to the bottom of the sea. There is no reason for water to act like concrete, unless its frozen.

But water actually DOES act like concrete unless you are getting really slow. And at that point, though most planes start to sink immediately, the don't vanish instantly. Planes were and are able able to ditch on water in real life - and so they are here.

Before I deleted my account I was burning perks flying a temp...
Was in a good fight with a jug...hit him up bad and looked to be going down...I start on my way...I look back...he is skidding on the water...tried to turn and kill him...but he got the ditch...
At least have no ditches on water or something!

And why? Just because you failed to shoot him down in time? ;)
Ditching on water is no more generous than our current ditching on land.

Have to agree with Lusche.
-
I, also must agree with Lusche and Lyric.:aok
My grandfather served on the tanker USS Monongahela (AO42). He tells me that he witnessed many succesful ditches on the water, enemy and friendly alike. He did mention, though, that the hogs weren't too succesful
Something about it not working unless the prop was already missing or broken::O
As far as the water being like concrete, next time anyone does a belly flop, let me know how "soft" the water was

The water in this game is concrete no matter what speed you are going. Try landing on water in this game.

why is this not a problem?
If they can code gv's to go from sea to land, why cant they code a plane that sinks or becomes "stuck" once it hit's the water.
That way if someone does make a good water landing, they will just semi sink "think of how the lvt and pt "soak" themselfs into the ground to make them apear to be floating.
If they hit going too fast, well..they blow up.

Ermmm...you cant LAND per se on water. You can ditch, gear up, slaps out, speed down to below 120mph, and presto, belly scarpe and ditch. You cant do that with gear down, and once you down on the water, you definitely can't up again. So what the problem? Sounds all good to me..

I think that ought to count as a kill. The plane is lost. The pilot might be. If baling out awards a kill, exiting the plane on water should too.
On the other hand I don't think it's a very high priority 'bug'. ;)

Hmmm...I thought if you ditch with enemy near, he gets a proxy kill.....I know 100% that he gets a kill if he has pinged you with anything.

Not 100 % correct ;)
It all depends on where you ditch:
If you ditch in friendly territory, you will get a "ditch". Nobody will get a kill on you, neither by having damgaged you or by proximity.
If you ditch in enemy territory, you will get a "you have been captured". If someone has pinged you before, that enemy will get the kill. If you are not damaged, but an enemy is close enough, that enemy will get a proxy kill.
The question wether you are in enemy or friendly territory depends solely on which base is closest to you. If it's a friendly one, you are safe. Please note that strat targets have no influence on this.

Is there ever an end to learning????:D :D :D
Seems like I learn something new each day!:aok

Ditched a Stuka in the water last night, get slow and you can do it gear down. Wound up on my prop and tail sticking up in the air, had to .ef quickly because I feared that my squaddies would take advantage of my exposed posterior :P

Twentyfo, Twentyfo....you gotta finish em off WOOOWOOOOO!

As too landing on water I once skipped a B-17 trying to get low & it skipped off of a wave got all engines and maintained level flight until it ran out of air speed and made a belly landing/ditched. There are several films showing a B-29 ditching off of a beach in the Pacific and not breaking up or showing any major damage.:aok

when i take off from a carrier and stall after about 2 seconds in the air ill do a belly flop my wings and prop will be broken but im still afloat then the carrier arams me and starts pushing me but doesnt destroy the plane
-
Depnding upon weather you were in enemy territory or you were defending is factors there. You hit a wing off and he lands in the water and you are attacking his base then no kill, its just like landing on the land, but if you kill him defending then you will get the kill because thios will come up in the text buffer:
"You have been captured"
and who killed you and such.
thats the only reason you did not get the kill

Funny part of that is you can tower out sometimes when this happens & you will get a succesful landing.

i think it should count as a dich and the guy who made him dich in the water should get the kill in real life you didnt know if he made it back to base if you got the oil in the engen i think you got the kill even if he made it back to base they had gun camras that what they used to determin if he got a kill

thats what it is. If you land anywere other than the cement on your base then you will get a ditch and usually the kill but the problem is that the guy he killed was in proximity and they don't count ditches in your area.
