Hey! It's me from a long time ago... the kid with the computer from hell.
I come to you with yet another chance to stop playing (seriously, you guys aren't letting me leave!) For those of you who don't know me, I am the one kid, of all the kids in AH, that you would want to meet. (Other than serenity of course...) I pay for my own account, I do not fall under ANY trait of a squeaker, therefore am NOT one.
Some background... I'm only 12, I'm polite, funny, and edumacated. However, I'm VERY computer dumb, and have tried nearly everything to get rid of blue screens, stop errors, viruses, spyware, adware, blue screens, stop errors, and more blue screens. And NOW I can't even install any video drivers! :furious :furious :furious :lol I've gone mad I say! MAD! :lol
So NOW, I am seriously, outta' here. I'll make this quick and painless for those of you who actually *sniffle* LIKED me...
BYE, It's been fun being the lure, the target, and the bait. It's been fun being shot down by you... Oh... the memories!!! :(
Oh yea, one thing... Since I have no video driver, and am un-able to get one, Aces High won't start up... which MEANS, *cough cough* DRUM ROLL...
I CAN'T GET TO MY ACCOUNT ADMIN.
Yours truly,
Oogly50...

P.S. I'll be back when I get a new computer.... And I may occasionally stop by on the forums to see how much you guys missed me...
Feel free to post feedback about me... I like to feel good :D
Oh yea, and if you write a song about me like my choir and guitar teacher did... That just makes the goodness better. :(
-
Could you explain the "no video driver" part?
Did you ever have any success getting rid of the malware/trojan problem you were having
Maybe we can keep you flying until you get that new rig. If not, stay in touch and we'll see ya soon
-
I got rid of the malware... and by video driver... I mean video driver.
I have a RADEON ATLANTIS 9200SE graphics card, but I'm having trouble downloading any video drivers for it. I can get to the point where it tells me to restart my computer, but once I restart... it just sais an error occured when installing.
-
Do you have the disc with the driver on, or have u had to d/l from the net, as you could have a corrupt d/l.........
Wurzel
-
god dangit! Why can't you guys let me leave silently!!!!1ONE!!!11!
I d/l off the intardnet... but I've tried about... 2 different drivers.
-
Errrr no dagnabit......so ner.......ok....I'd suggest either finding a disc that the original drivers were on and using them to get your puter up n running, then doing a search on your card on here to see what drivers other people have had success with.........then....well, then we may let you go quietly into the ether...........
Wurzel:D
-
maybe I should just run virus scans, spyware, AND ad-aware and then try a different driver...
I'm so tired... I wanna' go watch my name is Earl...
It's been a tough day... with football, girls, (one girl in particular... WOW, just WOW :aok ) and then this...

you might try disabling your sound card and trying to reinstall driver for video. and how are you installing driver, disc or download?

Just keep tootin' your own horn and it'll all work out.

Try this link oogly http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=803
If that doesn't work, do a Google on your driver. I read something about a driver rollback. You're a bright guy...check it out.
Good luck
-
think it might be time for a reformat......Get rid of all the junk and makes your system like new....
I reformat at least once a year. Its not that hard, takes about 5 hrs depending on how much stuff you want to reinstall
-
Maybe you already know this but you need to uninstall all video drivers before you try to install a new one or it will never work. Just Checkin.
-
read between the lines. The gentleman is telling you so called pro's to go screw a lightbulb:D :rofl :aok
-
Yar... I do know to uninstall my video drivers every time... :D I'll try what max has told me to do...

Ooogly, Condor made a point I forgot about. It's a good practice to rid your system of old drivers when adding new ones. Here's a link from guru3d.com for an application to that purpose:http://www.guru3d.com/index.php?page=driversweeper
Note: I've never used the program but guru3d is accepted as a trusted source.
Read up all disclaimers and "read me's" before using.
If that doesn't pan out, PM me. I have one other suggestion but you're best trying what I've already suggested, first. Best of luck.

Agreed. The BSOD is only caused by device drivers. Apparently Ooogly, when you initially "updated" your video driver which precipitated this problem it was not the right driver for your video card or the new driver was defective.
I would...
Go into SafeMode,
Uninstall that cursed video driver then...
Then... install a newly downloaded one which you saved to a folder you can find.
Do not allow the system to search for it, rather chose to specifically select the driver you want installed from the directory/folder in which you saved it.
You will select the drivername.ini file which is not actually the driver itself rather a type of script which points to the actual driver file.
Then... reboot in normal mode if successful.
Sometimes people get caught in driver hell by allowing the system to automatically search for the driver which often winds up trying to install the same bad driver over and over again, regardless of the newly downloaded driver.
I've been to driver hell; its not a pleasant place.
Hope this helps you!

You might want to try ... http://www.omegadrivers.net/
This guy does wonders with the ATI drivers ... and you don't have to uninstall your current ATI drivers.
You DO have to uninstall the ATI Control Center before installing his drivers and that is simple enough.
==============================================
The Omega Drivers are compatible with all ATI Radeon cards:
(it doesn't matter if they are DDR, SDR, PCI, PCI-E, AGP, Mobile, Retail, OEM or 3rd Party)
Radeon All In Wonder
Radeon 7x00/VE/LE
Radeon 8500/LE
Radeon 9x00/SE/Pro/XT/TX
Radeon X Series /SE/Pro/XT/PE
Radeon X 1k Series
All Mobility Radeons (M6 and up)

Open up Windows control panel > Display and check your screen resolution. Try a setting of 1024 x 768 and see if that solves the "evrything's tiny" problem.
Did you clean the drivers as Tigress suggested (in SAFE MODE) prior to installing new drivers?
