Title: Idea for adding new players
Post by: Ripsnort on February 11, 2000, 08:51:00 AM
Thought I'd throw this out:
Once P38 arrives, I think a good idea would be to "invite" some WB's guys over to AH for a "Free Week-end" and let some of them get accustomed to AH, I know alot of them had opportunities to fly while it was in Beta, but now that the doors are locked, curiosity might be tickling a few over there.  There's a bunch of great guys in WB's, and after talking to a couple of ex-squaddies, I know there'd be a few to come over and try it now.

Alot of folks won't fly in beta, because, it's BETA,now that its in PROD, I think HTC might be able to drum more business up on a "free week-end".

Just a thought about the P38 when it gets here.

I reccomend HTC make it the default plane for any new player.  It's twin engines and lack of torque effects will surely ease the learning curve for players new to hardcore WWII flight-sims.  In addition it is a great all-around fighter with good low-speed handling capabilities.  Making the P38 the default will help grow the community IMHO.

As I understand it, all new players get a Free Two Weeks of unlimited flying, to try out the game before they have to ante up.  This should be enough for even a P-38 pilot to get a feel for AH.   (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif)

Is there a default A/C??  As I recall; first time in the hangar there was no plane displayed on the ground; but the list was there to the left. I'm pretty sure I just picked the plane I wanted off the list and headed on out..

Lept's got a good idea tho..

Default for offline is P51, I agree with Leph, it should be P38 when its avail.  Online default is whatever you flew last while online.

Sorry Rip, but I think the only advertising that goes on in the Warbirds community should be by word of mouth from individuals playing both games.

If HTC were to do it it would be like walking into BurgerKing and seeing an add for free cheeseburgers at McDonalds.

If they make the right improvements in the game, it should sell itself to more members of the Warbirds community... and AW community.

On this subject, I just picked up my copy of PC-Zone (uk mag). It has a little about AH and an old revision on the cover CD. This is how i found online WW2 fsims and considering so many mags are devotin more pages to online gaming it would be great and free advertising for AH. Just a thought.

It must depend on the joystick. Setup of the logitech is simple.
