yup,better yet dont monitor ch200:O

You were being punished for bad/unwanted behavior. If it doesn't suck then it's not punishment.
-
if you need to be warned to know that use of that sort of language on 200 isn't acceptable then a warning probably wouldn't have done much good.
-
Learn finnish and you can type/say whatever you want:D
True dast, you surely is/are(foregin language) not to even closest 500 to get muted
:D
but, who cares anyway... or should not care...

Yep, act the part of a person who knows right from wrong, understands that their actions impact on the people around them good or bad, and remember there is nothing worth getting worked up about in AH and you should be fine.
What cracks me up is this isn't a case of folks slipping with their words coming out of their mouth. This is a deliberate taking the time to type something. It's not an accident, so don't complain if you get your typing hands slapped :)

The obvious answer is no, this is not an abuse of authority. You got exactly what you were trying to get.
Here's some advice- you will never win an argument with a moderator when you have clearly broken the rules repeatedly- don't even bother trying.
-
Anyone know who the monitors are? Are they players or is it people working at HTC?
-
Trax, from what I've undestood they are voulunteers - would you expect someone from HTC to monitor all the channels. No one knows who they are, which is fine by me, I've never been muted (although there are a couple of times when I wish I could have kept my mouth shut). But following the lines set by HTC, strictly I'd guess.
-
from my experiences mods are nice. I once was knowingly over the line and instead of a perma ban a mod sent me a very kind warning (more than i deserved)
-
Sorry, you blew it be starting on with the language to begin with, then continuing on by arguing about it.
That's tough, only one way to prevent what happened to you, completely in your hands.
You were training to be a CM at one point, a while back, much worse since you should know better than to act like that to begin with.
This thread probably didn't quite go the way you were hoping, did it?
-
You knew you were in the wrong and you gotta learn when to drop it - but we all have slipped up or had a bad day that carried over to the vox/text buffer a few times.
The only thing I see wrong is the invisible monitor system - but finally I have a solution to fix it without revealing the players ID. Whenever you are muted by a monitor you should receive a popup saying you have been muted and given the time, amount of time muted and a 2 or 3 digit monitor ID unique to that monitor that never changes. I personally despise a 'secret police' style of moderation... If I were a monitor and had to mute someone, I'd be willing to tell them i did it.
This way it will be easier to protest if you believe you were unjustly treated, takes away the ubersecret monitor cowardace and gives some degree of accountability to the people who pay to play the game. This also eliminates the possibility of or the PERCEPTION that a monitor has it in for you.
The only people that could possibly disagree with this super simple solution could be the abusive monitors themselves.
-
What I think might happen with unique identifiers, would be people working to get warned, and comparing numbers to rosters, with the singular goal of making moderator IDs known.
Have to admit, I've been pretty mouthy at times in the past, and have been muted a few times, warned more, and it's never, in my honest opinion, been unwarranted. Also, I know HTC folks have come on and muted the occasional tard, so it's not always/necessarily a player mod that shuts you up.
-
staffers can boot you from all arenas for 1 hour if you get mouthy while thier on....
-
999000<------------Rumor is he is a monitor!
-
Maybe Penelope Pitstop blushed with the language. Maybe the Ant Hill mob regard "substances" their domain. Maybe Rufus Ruffcut and Sawtooth are fed up with trees. Maybe Red Max likes the idea of a "target rich environment". Maybe Peter Perfect likes to use his hot rod.
What ever it was there's a short haired dog laughing his bollocks off.
-
Hub, that would take a REAL conspiracy since people are constantly in and out of the arenas

Many people have way to much time at their hands and are pretty curious at the same time... ;)
I bet it wouldn't even take a full tour to do that.
-
I've seen people pour through past tour stats and scores of known IDs to try to figure out who shades accounts were. Some folks get really wrapped up over petty stuff- to them, a few days of constantly provoking mods would be nothing.
-
After a short time, they are flirting with the ban stick... I dont think this is a bad way to go compared with having mods who hide completely...

It isn't what you think, the text buffer goes by quiet fast at times, that some stuff is not seen or caught, if the mod had of caught it, he/she would have executed a warning or a mute just the same as he/she did to you.....Originally posted by Dastrdly
i'll be the 1st to admitt my conduct & choice of words are far from nice but by far not the worst. today i recieved 170 minutes of mute time totall. no warnings no nothing 1st was 1/2 hour for saying the S word for poop(being careful here) then 10 for complaining then 120 for telling monitor where to go!
Aces High players should be glad I am not a Mod.for I would be prob 10 times more harsh....
I might would of warned you the 1st time ( or possibly muted you )
the second time, would of been a longer mute with a more stricter warning on top of that
and when you went to tell me where to get off, I would of just instantly ejected you for say 6 hours........you lucky the mod still let you play in the arena, he/she probably could have ejected you just as easily.you should of not received a 3rd chance in my eyes, from your description of what happened......Originally posted by Dastrdly
i felt that whom ever was in that position had a personal vendetta on me. there was much worst being said before juring & after.
it is easy to feel such a way when you are invitingly bringing or drawing attention to yourself in public......Originally posted by Dastrdly

Good Ole COMMON SENSE.......
not trying to pick on you, just expressing that you brought a complaint to the general forum yet plainly say you was in the wrong , in your complaint........

Arguing with a moderator is like arguing with your wife. In the end if you don't say 'yes dear, I was wrong' baaaaaad things can happen.

The mods do have monitors. They can be reached at support@hitechcreations.com. That info is at the top of every board...
9- Complaints about a player's behavior online should be emailed to support@hitechcreations.com rather than posted to this board.
I can tell you from your description that the answer from HTC Re: "an abuse of athority?" would be along the lines of:
"No".
When you find yourself in a hole...Stop digging.

I`m sure you will make up the 170 minutes at double the rate.
You do every morning. Mostly whining and pouting because you refuse to listen to common sense and don`t understand that when you fly an anvil, you are going to get hammered. :)

Dast - a wise man doesn't pour gasoline on dirty rags and then throw lit matches into the mix.

Great, then stop doing it.
Either you have brain damage, or a level of immaturity that in inconsistant with civil behavior, if you can't control what you TYPE. You don't BLURT out when you type....
Control yourself, or get muted. Big deal.

Consider yourself lucky for getting what you got ... If I was a monitor and you told me where to go, it would be quite evident that you didn't need more mute time ... it would be "boot" time.
so who gets the privilege of playing GOD & allowing little or no consequence for one & screw the next players game time?
Well ... I think the BIG "GOD" would of course be HT ... I would think that anyone on the HTC Staff have been given god-like powers by the BIG GOD.
Also, their are some mortal minions that have been given god-like powers too, but they are under scruitiny by the upper level gods.
Anyone who comes here to the BBS to seek sympathy or an explanation of why they got muted for using vulgar language should not be surprising at all.
The level of common sense/intelligence exhibited, that resulted in the "mute", is also evident in the action of creating such a post.

Not only that, but the "S" word by itself will not make it thru the filter. The person typing has to somehow, with intention, create a text string with the "S" word in it to get it by the filter for the Mod to even see it. Therefore, it really is a more deliberate act and could never be construed as "accidental".

There is a server log of the text buffers from what I understand. If the guilty party believes that they were treated unjustly, they simply need to call HTC and tell them "WHEN" it occurred ... they can look at the logs to see the coversation and I am sure that they could also see/determine who did the muting.
-
This thread really should not have been started. Moderators are not there to control anyone's behavior. Moderators are there in the case where a player cannot control thier own behavior.
If you choose to be derogatory or abusive in any manner at all, you are making the choice to be muted at the same time. There is no rationlization you can use to justify your behavior.
The moderators are monitored by HTC. The only abuse here was done by the original player.
You want to know what is acceptable and yet you come to the bulletin board, which has written rules and you violate them. I think it is pretty clear what this is about.
