Title: Same Ole Crap
Post by: rednex21 on September 29, 2007, 03:54:51 PM
Ok guys...i'm back once again....with the same problem ive had since I deleted my first account and started another one.  Since then my computer has been freezing non stop ONLY when i play Aces High.  And i hate it when it happens during missions or squad nights.

This is what happens:

I'll be flying along and all of a sudden my screen freezes and NEVER comes back.  It wont let me do anything (not even Alt+Tab or Windows key).
So...i hvae to turn computer off (holding the button for 4 seconds) and start all over again.  Sometimes to only come back for 5 minutes to have it do the same darn thing.

Ive also noticed that it rarely ever happens when i'm in gv's.  I think in a total of three months its done it to me 3 times in a gv.  I drove for an hour and 30 minutes in a tank one time, did my damege, and ended sortie.  the very next sortie i up a plane and within 5 minutes of flight my computer froze.  I restarted, up 3 more sorties in a plane, BAM........FREEZE!!!!

 :furious

So....once again, can anybody, ANYBODY, tell me what in God's name is happening and what do i need to do to fix it.

How much ram, what type of video card and is your power supply adequate for the computer.  Sound like possibly a problem in the first two area as the flight program requires alot more ram than a GV:noid

Running DXdiag from the run prompt on your computer "copy and paste" the first third of the saved text here is always a good idea.

I've had the same problem when I downloaded Ace High onto my laptop. I asked
someone I know, who works with computers, why this keeps happening. He said that it might be because your computer is over heating.

If that's not the case with you, then do what I did to fix the problem. Go to the video settings on the main menu and uncheck hardware vertex processing, optimize terrain, and optimize objects (if not done already).:aok

^^^That should fix your problem  ^^^

Ya know Jack, someone told me that also.

And Dusty, Im running very little RAM (512 MB or something like that) and a stock video card that came with computer.  I have a 5 year old Dimension 8400 Dell.

This really tells people nothing. What you call stock may not actually be stock. In any case if it's the ATI X300 it is a 32mb memory video card that shares system memory and is probably one of the worst cards for 3D gaming. And I'd say it's time to upgrade.

To help anyone trying to help you, run dxdiag and post the first 1/3 of the report that includes the sound and video card info.
