Title: signing off 200
Post by: LYNX on September 30, 2007, 05:56:40 PM
I am signing off 200 as of 1st day of October.  I may tune infrequently but it will not be the norm.  With regard to game play channel 200 neither promotes or holds an interest for me.  Having re-tuned to 200 for 1 year I am of the consideration it's used primarily for bruised "ego's" more than enhancement of game play.  As for my ego....well that's my concern :D

If I don't salute it'll be a few reasons.  Usually the major one is I'm still in a combat situation.  Second reason will be to busy organising and thirdly I may consider the engagement not worthy or your trying to insult.  Many will know what I mean by this but some will not   This doesn't mean I won't salute when appropriate or when I can.  Just saying I may not so please don't take any great offence. :aok

Oh, any idiot PM'ing me with abuse will be screen shot and squelched.....have a nice day:aok .

Been de-tuning 200 for a while now. (pop on it every now and then) To many inmature people on 200 for my liking. It's mainly the same dozen of so, saying the same crap over and over. Sad really, with average person playing this game over 30 and they act 13.

I hope HT takes CH.1 off EW and MW for when I go in there. Sucks not being able to NOT listen to the tards in there.

You could do a .squelch 1

or just tune channel 1 to 2

Thanks Meat, didn't know you could squelch 1. As for tuning it two, I see CH. 1 text even when none of my text boxes have it selected. I'll try the squelch thing though.

You cant untune channel 1 - tune every radio to another channel and you will still read it.
And if you squelch it, you squelch the dot salutes too

the .squelch 1 command does indeed de-tune the open channel in the other arenas.

Been De-tuned for a while now too for the same reasons pretty much. Its great actually killing someone and not having to listen to there rubbish.

I keep 200 tuned because I like laughing at the people that, at the moment, are more immature than me. It's also a great pass-time to calmly reply to them flipping out and make them look like even bigger tards. :noid

That definitely isn't saying I don't break out my teenage type every once in a while, though. :D Like the time that damn P-38 followed my leaking 262 back after he watched me hit (and get hit by) a set of B-24s.

I  never have  had channel 200 tuned, (4-5 yrs) I know it cuts off 2/3 of the community. I dont care what the enemy has to say, pro or con. Folks I know from the dark sides are  still reachable if I private message them. I see no reason to have 200 tuned.  I'm not sure, but from all ive heard about channel 200 thru the yrs, I would have allready had a fatal stroke or heart attack, detune 200, you'll live longer.:D

I rarely use open channel anymore, except for when I get in a good aerial scrap with someone, and send a salute and a compliment. Other times, I just use PM.

I'm with you Lynx, I was on and saw the "incident" that probably prompted (or put you over the edge) your decision to stop monitoring 200.  I've been out for 2 1/2 to 3 years and just came back last month.  I started monitoring 200 so I could say hi to folks I knew in the other countries that I hadn't seen in a long time.

Unfortunately I had the same kind of incident, not as bad as yours, but it will still drive me to not monitor 200 anymore.  Too bad too, I enjoyed listening to "friendly" banter but It definitely went over the top a couple of times.

I thought we had moderators taking care of issues like this?  If we do, I would raise the bar a little higher and zap people a little quicker.  If they don't like it, they can go play HALO or Quake on-line.

To the two people that think I'm "pathetic" --your not "aces" (thanks for reminding them Fester), your "gamers".  BTW, you can come touch my Air Medals (9) anytime you like  :p .

Gotta say -- I enjoy Channel 200 90% of the time, mostly because I squelch the annoyance of the day as soon as I feel annoyed.

What's left is a slowly rolling text buffer with some really funny guys chatting. When somebody's undergoing a "ballistic launch, sometimes its fun (in a hallucinatory way) to read half the conversation -- when it isn't, I just squelch them too. The cost to me is that once or twice a year I get tweaked just enough that I deserve to be squelched; but that isnt 200's fault, its a sign that I have more growing up to do than I like to admit.

Without 200 I would miss out on some growing online friendships, and online ones can turn into real ones with just a little effort. In fact, while the Mustangs were great, without a doubt the best part of the air show was getting to hang out with, and laugh with, guys I've know online for years.

Thanks for the thoughts but nothing that's been said or implied to me has made me turn 200 off.  As I said in YanksFans video "it won't be to long before I turn it off".  As I posted yesterday that times here and today.

I really don't find anything on it that enhances MY game play.  10% funny polite chat 90% bruised ego's.  I can now keep a squad text channel and a 6 channel help open perminatly..... that's all there is to it :aok

Oh dear.... Here we go again  "Dick" Dastardly and his sage like wisdom.....STARTING again!

There is no reasoning with someone who is either deluded, plain stupid or just to pig headed to get the plot.  However, for the hard of understanding I'll have another go.  I don't start stuff on 200 Dick...may I call you by your first name....Dick ?  The only players I so call "belittle" are the ones that deserve it... guessed where you stand ?  They gob off at me then I return the favour.  In your case though it's a little different.  You start the trash ALL the time then accuse me of starting it.  Your a bit "special" with this regard aren't you. Here's something for those of "hard of understanding" ...."I don't suffer fools gladly". Wouldn't surprise me if you posted back saying "blah blah you started the thread"

Dick, me and you don't get on because your err, how to be polite.... a bit.. erm, somewhat lacking in... erm, you find it harder than most to work things out.  The bit that really gets me is your repetitive whines.  Not daily but hourly.  I mean it's painful watching you bang your head against the same wall...over an over an over.  Jesus man how many times you gotta do that before stuff sinks in.....it's awful....truly and you come across like a VICTIM.  Seems like every time your shot down it's not your fault.  A guy could kill you in a C47 and you'd come up with an excuse...Man!

u r usually the 1st to jump on the band wagon attacking other players... usually only when u have backers!

This is an extension of your first paragraph.  It's wrong and doesn't need me to repeat myself.

u got jumped by other players for a change on 200, now u crying... man up!

Did I miss something here? You obviously think 200 trash talk had some kind of effect as to MAKE me detune 200.  Here's some history.  Channel 1 was untunable then 200 came out.  I detuned 200 from the get go for over a year.  That's before you started playing AH.  One year ago this month(date of thread) I tuned in again.  Nothing has changed from channel 1....NOTHING.  If you care to read the opening thread again.  I state why I have detuned.  Still think otherwise ?   Then your deluded.

as far as salutes go... the day i see u another player for beating u ill shave my head! u only back on your victories! u r a poor loser!

Some guys shoot me down and get salutes some don't.  Could be one of the reasons stated in the opening thread but this isn't about my victors is it Dick.  As far as your concerned you don't deserve a salute.  Why?  I consider you talentless.  Little more than a brawler gamer in a cartoon plane.  Like many of us you have a lot to learn.  Your on the first paving stones unfortunately you've been there longer than most.  Sure you can throw that 110b around.  NOT TAKING THAT FROM YOU but you have and, I find myself repeating the words,  no UNDERSTANDING of ACM let alone SA.  You fight down instead of up.  You repeatedly blow every once of energy you have.  I swear you use that 110b as some kind of crutch to prop up your failings.  Constantly use one of the lowest calibre planes then moan if shot down by a higher caliber plane...jesus.  What a waist of your time...I remind myself it's your 15 bucks.

You seem to take pride in getting a kill on me which kind of flatters me but honestly Dick there's thousand that's done that...you ain't special...well not in that regard anyways. You so much want a in some kind of recognition and I'll do that if I see anything worthy.  Todate I have not.  I say to you constantly that your game needs to improve in ACM and especially SA.  You miss so much of this game not being able to deal multiples of cons.  Working in a "target rich environment"....gangs to you.    You miss out on using other planes stuck in that 110 in fighter mode..... You really need some training or at least read some stuff.

Daily....honestly.....it's painful to witness.

will be nice not to have your BULLOCKS on 200.... CYA

The word is spelt "bollocks" and you are full of it.

Although sometimes..well often 200 is filled with 2 guys carrying on,and for some reason think we want to see it, not having 200 would be far worse. Played ww2ol and saw what having no contact with the enemy is like. Its like playing offline. Boring.

half the fun of the game comes from laughing at the Man Purse swinging and coming out events on 200.:rofl  Just like the other half of the fun comes from this BBS. Oh and shooting the crap out of stuff is also nice.

Indeed. Just set channel 1 as a second country channel and you'll never know or care if the boys are peeing on each other's shoes... Besides, there's usually enough nonsense on country channel to suffice.

I only tune 200 as a matter of habit, and in case there might be someone in another country I might actually want to talk to. For the most part I find the pitiful attempts at "smack talk", as well as the "I don't like the way you shot me down so you suck" purse fights, to be more and more annoying. As it stands, I can ignore it, but then I don't fly that much any more, so maybe that's why I haven't tuned 200 out. Yet.
