Title: Thank you Rooks
Post by: Rich46yo on October 01, 2007, 12:12:00 PM
Thank you for the 5 or 6 times Rook fighters have either come to my aid or escorted my bombers.. I was just dead meat in the blue arena, in a crippled 26  and 3 or 4 fighters came to my aid. Even if I did kill the 190 that was stalking me. Boy it was great seeing those friendly's coming.

Very enjoyable flying with the Rooks. Really a lot of cooperation.

We were actually trying to steal your kill.

Btw, I wasn't there, but am a proud member of the rook nation for too many years.

LOL, when Im in that predicament steal all you want.:D

Rudder shot to heck, both engines smoking, diving from 14,000' to make a strip 1/2 sector away? A 190 coming in? Stress flying man, stress flying.:huh

It was over the water , in the BA, between 43 and 40. And Im grateful.

I had that feeling before too Rich46yo. I had just dive bombed the enemy cv in my P-51, I was pw, oil leak, left aileron missing, right elevator missing, fuel leaks, and atleast 20 enemy planes on me pinging my plane. When I saw the 20 rooks coming in to save me (or furball more likely) I was so releived. That was months ago though. :D

Isn't it great?
Been a proud Rook member for as long as i've been playing and boy when bombers are comin back home if theyre hurtin, theyre quick to escort
B24's w/ all 4 engines smoking leaking fuel and a pilot wound seeing a few friendly mustangs form up was a bit of a relief d:

I have noticed a big difference flying for Rook nation. Guys do tend to look out for each other more. That and we really have some first class sticks, and, some really good bomber sticks as well.

We have guys who'll take heavies high, call for targets, and then take them out with fighters watching their back. Sounds like a plan to me. Lotsa fun I think.

This is an awsome game aint it?

So.  You, um, like being a rook, huh?  For years and years, huh?

Loyalty to a virtual chess piece, huh?  Oh, okay.

Thank you sir. I do appreciate the offer. Im 50 yo and never played an on-line game before, nor have I gamed period. A big part of my fascination with AH is the fact Im mad about WW-ll history, most of all flight history, as well as being a USAF veteran.

What really blows me away is the fact that the aircraft have so many of the characteristics of the real historical aircraft. Both in strengths and weaknesses.

Last night I actually took time off from my B-26s and flew a flock of AR-234s thru a big hairy furball, took out 3 hangars, and then touched off RATOs to escape a herd of demented teenagers hungry for perk points.

Just to much fun for words. And the AR-234 is just a terrific perk bomber and a credit to AH for making it available to us arthritic old Buff sticks.:aok

Stirring the pot there a bit aren't ya.

Yeah, generally I fly rook because of long term associates and what not. Sometimes I have been known to jump on the other side if they're heavily outnumbered and non of my squaddies are on.

You can put the stick down now, the poop has been stirred into pudding.

So your country mates used you for bait, waited until the enemy was low on fuel/ammo and then came and killed them.  Mighty nice of them

Just kidding.

Glad to see you've fopund some non-squaddie teamwork in the MA.  Somes days that's hard to do.

I think he might have come over from the Knights so it's a big difference for him. I know it was for me when I came to be a Rook. :D
