Title: Dealing with Possible Plug Pullers
Post by: Getback on October 01, 2007, 12:26:11 PM
I wonder how other pilots deal with possible plug pullers. Two times in the last 3 days I have dove in on a con only to see him slip below my windshield no matter how steep I dive and then reappear behind me. On one occasion the person pulled up from the deck, I came in behind him with more energy chopped my throttel to the point I stalled and still I passed him and then he had e and I was stalled. I almost left the game over these two events. I keep telling myself Hitech will nail these bums and that somewhat keeps me hopeful and playing. I realize a vast majority play fair, however it does seem that plug pulling is getting worse.

Almost always this is lag. If you think unfair practices are underway, it is ALWAYS best to email your film to HTC. If there is a real problem, it will be dealt with -- for us fairness is a game, but it's their LIVING under attack.:aok

Other pilots don't bring this to the message boards.

Film it, and send it to HTC. If there is anything going on, they will take care of it.

In most cases however, you are just being out flown, or there is a lag issue.

You are correct Fugitive about that.  I'm dropping the subject.

Film on!

If I may keep this thread alive just a bit longer:

I see this cable pulling allegation quite a bit online.  In fact, I made it once against this La-7 that simply kept moving conveniently every time I was in a position for a shot.

However, one time, I got shot down, and the message I got on 200 from the killer was "Die warper".  I queried the guy, a well-known player like Platano or Vans or someone, and he said I was warping all over.  I had no idea; everything looked fine on my end.

I think I've seen it described online that when there is more going on around an a/c online, there is more 'info' being exchanged, and so when you shoot at (or maneuver?) very close to another a/c, if there is a poor connection, some info gets lost and that appears to the good connection as warping or, perhaps, intentional cable pulling.

My point, then, is that even though it may seem to be intentional, maybe it isn't, and in fact, the other player may not even realize it's an issue.  My router is two rooms away from me, I couldn't possibly cable pull, yet it seemed like it to another guy due to my poor connection.  In my case, I re-logged.

When I see suspicious activity, I let the guy know he's warping on 200, and give him the benefit of the doubt that it's honestly a poor connection.

I hope this helps.

Yep, I almost always send a post on 200 if I see a warper.  Probably just a bad connection and need to re-log.

Okay, Piling on. Where's the Ref. LOL

I actually e-mailed Pyro to ask him to remove this link. For one I now realize how pathetic I was being. Sure wish I hadn't posted this thread.

On the other hand I should thank you all for the solid advice, the endless possibilities of causes, Slapping the dweeb out of me, kicking my mental butt and, making me cry mama.

Now if I could find a way to regain my dignity.

If more than one player is seeing the same thing, it is the other guy warping... or yanking his cable.

Is that like ...

If a tree falls in the forest and there is no one there ... does it make a sound ?

No no no, it is more like: "If a man speaks and there is no woman around to hear him, is he still wrong?"

You are probably going past Mach when you are diving in for your c-pick. That would explain the time warp.

If we can just get the teenies and squeakers to stop dl music and shut down the 15 chat programs....... 90% of the cable puller allegations might go away.

As a matter of fact, I would edit that whole post to "nevermind" or delete it if possible.

HT and HTC don't take discussions like that very lightly.

The guy asked a question and I gave him my opinion.  As far as implying that I am cheating, that's uncalled for.  It so easy to blast away at someone over the BBS, I would very much doubt if I were standing next to you, such rudeness would be uttred by you.  The only way to deal with a vulnerable part of a system is to put it on the table and discuss it.  People who think that you can have security through obscurity needs to get educated in the ways of the 21st century.

Most of the young people here do not know how to execute such a technical exploit.  The older ones that play this game who are technical enough probably already knows.  Its basic TCP/IP laws.

They were not implying you were cheating (from what I could tell), but saying that it isn't wise to post anything like that on the forums as the info could be used to cheat by other players.

bumping back to $29.95 a month would solve that and many other problems

If they did bump it to $30 per month, I would have to give up something.

If it were that much, there would be less people in the MA than in MW now.

I wouldn't pay that much, and I have a lot of grey in my hair..

But what about the possibility of hackers?

But what about the possibility of cheaters?

But what about the possibility of cheating hackers?

But what about the possibility of cable pulling, cheating hackers?

But, but, but...we should think of ALL the possibilities, no matter how uncommon or improbable!!!!!!111ONE

I'm not going to lose any sleep over the possibility that I might run across a single guy pulling a cable while I'm flying my cartoon plane.

It dont work. I have yanked my cable out of the wall.
I still die. My skills as a fighter pilot sucks. I have tried
them all. Get up in a new plane and have some fun.
You kill some; you die some.

Yes, those with more disposable income are the most ethical, moral, and technically adept people in the universe. Money = character, good lucks, and brains.
