Title: Black out death in Me262?
Post by: hogenbor on October 02, 2007, 04:38:22 AM
A few days back I flew a 262.

I rarely fly this bird so the only people I managed to hit were bombers and people who didn't see me. The fun part is that getting shot down in a 262 is a remote possibility as long as you have a bit of E left.

Anyway, I tried to hit a P-51 but he evaded. I rather sloppily tried to follow him and gave a high deflection shot while pulling a lot of G's. Next thing I know I am in the tower. Is it possible to pull too much G's? I vaguely remember that your plane will explode if you go over 9 (pilot death) but if it ever happened to me it is a long time ago.

If you were instantly in the tower, I'd bet he nailed your canopy with 2 or more rounds.

262 likes to lose wing chunks with too-vigorous control inputs, especially at high Gs -- but that kind of damage gives you painful moments of watching your plane tumble to the ground, not instant tower.

P-51s move in groups, you got shot by another P-51 probably.

I can't remember for sure, but I think the 262 used to have a bug like that.  The 163 will kill you if you shove the pilot around too hard, but it doesn't sound like you were spiking it like that.

I've ripped the wings off of a jet more sorties than I care to admit, but I've never just blown up without being hit. Bug, or lucky/stray round in the canopy perhaps?

Actually HT has a special set of button on his keyboard.  Each one is labeled with a different type of plane.

Periodically he pushes one.  At random.  A whimsical button push, you might say.

The result of this whimsical act is to kill everyone in the arena in that type of plane.  Sad, unfortunate, but not without a complete and utterly lacking of the possibility of untruth.

When someone hits you usually hear it. But I could have spiked it, my stick is a little bit long in the tooth.
