Because, as Golfer might say, I'm interested in getting my "license to die". The current panel, in addition to the standard 6-pack, has a Michel MX-300 NAV/COM w/ VOR indicator, a mode C transponder, and an intercom. The NAV and COM are tied together into the same circuit, no audio panel.

My tentative plan is to add the following:
A TKM Michel MX-11 COM (for second com)
KMA 24 audio panel
KNS 80 for DME and glideslope
A TKM Michel MC-60 (the funny looking NAV converter w/ the digital display).
Assumptions:
* Since the KMA 24 doesn't have an intercom, I'll retain the one I have and just tie it in.
* The MC-60 will be driven by the KNS 80 and will give me a second VOR plus an ILS indicator for approaches.
* That I pretty much need an audio panel because of the added radios.
There's a local gentleman selling his KNS 80. He had it installed in a 28V plane, but all the docs I've found so far suggest that the KNS 80 is voltage agnostic and the same device will run on a 14 or 28v system w/o a converter. Is that accurate? If a converter is needed, is that expensive?
I posted this on the AOPA forums too, it'll be interesting to compare the answers. :D

IF yr looking for a poor mans MFD, a Garmin 496 with XM would do the trick, and you can get it panel mounted or on a stand. Cost, $2,000 for a refurb model if you hunt around.
Prob best value ur gonna find SA wise.

No no no no no.
I'm setting my bird up for IFR training. A 496 ain't gonna fit the bill. Plus, I already have a Dell Axim w/ bluetooth GPS.
