-
where is it at? Kinda looks like a strip mine
-
its just north of the gulf of mexico about 10 miles tops.
mostly sandy ground. its on a road called bunker road.
hmmmm.

The southern version of Area 51???:O
-
well, it is between three important airforce bases so it could be military. but i didnt see any signs of miliary presence or ownership. i dont get the feeling that it is.
really want to know what it is.

You know on a training flight to Texarkana from Addison we came across several odd but very specifically placed mounds of earth just west of Texarkana. I asked about them when I landed but the little fuel guy was of no help. I did a Google for any info around the area and found out that it was a large Army ammo depot that was not really used anymore. If you know name of a town or city in the area try searching the history of that town and something might come up. Be sure to post back any info you find. Now I am curious
The page for what I found in Northeast Texas

I started by searching military history of Texarkana and finallly came across it.

A reservoir?

Looked up map qwest for Bunker Rd in Florida and didnt get anything promising, mostly Bunker Cove and Bunker Island...
Try finding the website for those military bases, most of them have an online directory for base services. Its possible that if its close to Eglin AFB it may be a vehicle training area or a munitions disposal site. Eglin used to be training/Testing base, or maybe that was Patrick AFB...
you can almost see a perimeter road around the "facility" plus it looks like all the trees have been cleared around the area
-
Drive out there and check it out, let us know what you find out.

Early version of Tetris?

Any closer description of where in Florida it is...

It's the invasion of Pac-Man
-
You're all wrong, its the earth.
Where's my cookie?:D
-
You mean you dont know???
Thats a Soylent Green plant ;)
-
ok, so having looked all over trying to figure it out I've come up with nada. My best guess is either the pac-man idea or that it's a giant real life etch-a-sketch for the Air Force Colonels in the area.
-
I found it:D! I have a better picture, but for some reason I can't take a screen shot:confused:
EDIT: Since I can't take a screenshot for some reason:huh , I'll post the link to it:D : Microsoft Live Search (http://local.live.com/default.aspx?v=2&cp=30.367326~-86.064153&style=a&lvl=17&tilt=-90&dir=0&alt=-1000&encType=1)

JB88 I just gave you a link for it...

I found it on Google maps and all 4 of the other major map sites. Searched Point Washington, Santa Rosa beach and a few other names I found on the maps. Came up short on each search though. Something military I assume since the is no indication I could find. We might never know short of driving up to the site (which I assume has a gate somewhere) and asking what is going on or going into town, find the local VFW post and asking.

the easiest search.... Bunker, Florida:D

few folks round here have surmised that it may be used in gray water treatment.
something about spraying it on fields.
could this be what that is?

Most places don't treat gray water there is nothing in it that can hurt the earth. now they may have used it to run test on gray water to see if it would hurt the land.?

I think it's a Fuller's Earth pit:
Check out the first 3 pics on this site (http://www.pbase.com/floridageologicalsurvey/sand_and_other_pits)

It may be a waste water percolation system. But that's just a shot in the dark.
