Title: Night Arena?
Post by: sk4t3r on October 03, 2007, 06:14:15 PM
A night arena would be a good feature to the game. I know that there is night in the LW arenas, not sure about EW and MW bcuz i dont fly in them. However a night arena would be a good feature because stealth missions would be more effective, CVs would be harder to find and bomb, and it would give you the perspective of night raids, night bombings, and how they were done. Or another good idea would be to add more nighttime to the arenas that have it. Either way all im saying is that nighttime was a huge part of wwII. That is why I believe making a night arena or extending the amount of nighttime to make it more realistic would be a good idea.

See you in the LW,

Not exactly, night time in AH always reveals a full moon, and because of it the CV shines just as bright as day. (Last time I played in night time it was that way.)

You'll have the usual dewdz that come in and argue for the sake of arguing, but I agree, it would be fun for a short time now and again.

We don't have night time in any of the arenas. All we have is a dusk and dawn period where it gets slightly darker then usual, but not night. The only time you might see night is in the training arena on rare occasions. I don't think a new arena is nesscary for night time, rather just to add the the entire time scale to the arena's we have.

Thats just my 2-cents, and I know theres plenty out there who hate the ideal of night time at all, I just think it adds a bit more realisim.

Unless they make it so you can adjust your gamma in game or alt+tab out and change the gamma in the video settings, night time is a waste.  Most would just up the gamma so they can see.

Thats the problem, I never saw the point in going as far as to cheat to help win a cartoon war. If your paying just to win you might as well have a script playing for you.

I agree.  I liked the night time when we used to have it.  Seeing the tracers at night over a base or CV was cool and got even better looking when AH2 came out.  Never thought it was hard to fight at night either since there was always enough moonlight to see the bogie while fighting.

I like the idea  but i think it'd take too much time to develope not just because theyd have to make a new arena but also because theyd have to pick out the night fighters, equip it with a more advanced radar (shows dist. alt speed etc...) i think it would take too much time where HTC could be making something more useful...

They used to haev night here you know.  I've did some searching back through old threads and found one where Hi Tech got rid of night.  I will try to find it again, but I think his quote was something along the line of

"Time to put the whine on the other side of the fence"

I'll check to see if I can find it.

HiTech

That was 3 1/2  years ago.  Maybe we could have our nighttime again?

Personally ... I had a heck of a time flying when we had night. Could have been a combination of my screen and "old man" eyesight (presbyopia), but I would log when night came upon the arena.

I guess there were enough that suffered from the same thing and HT did away with the night. He doesn't make those types of decisions on a whim ... he must have had some data that backed up his decision ... like people logging when night came.

I even have a hard time fighting in the dusk/dawn time, but I hang with it as best I can.

HTC can change the color of light (night) and make it pretty much as clear to see as daytime.

I've done it for many special events i've hosted.

Would be no need to adjust gamma.

Log in on Christmas Eve when HT fires up the sled and 8 tiny hotards, and night falls in the MA. The whining is epic. I like it every now and then, but the game lacks most of the features that would make night more realistic- realistic radar, night fighters, 4 mile icon range in any lighting/weather conditions, and so on. At best, it's a novelty, and folks would probably tire of it quickly, IMO.

It would a nice change of pace to have a night arena or night ops. P70(night fighter version of A-20 with 4x20mm cannon and AI.IV radar), P61 Black Widow and ME410a-2/u-2 would be good for starters.

Being that there are two LW arena's,  i don't see a problem with night being implemented into one of them to see what happens.
