Getting ready to upgrade my memory from 1g to 2g. I use pc3200 and have 2 x 512s in the slots. I would appreicate any suggestions in what to look for and where to buy it.

Crucial.com will scan your PC and tell you what RAM is compatable with your PC. I used crucial.com when upgrading to 2gb RAM.
What do you plan on doing with your 512mb sticks?

Good question. My first thought is to buy 2 more 512s and just add to the ones already on board. Is there any detriment to this? Of Course if I buy 2 One Gigs then I can later upgrade to 4 gig. I'm just not sure Raptor.
Thoughts?

If you have the extra slots, then I'd say get two more 512mb dimms rather then buying 1gb dimms. The 512mb dimms will be cheaper.
Also 32bit Windows will only see 3.38gb, (approximate), anyways, so why buy memory you won't be able to use. If you're running windows 2000, I believe it will see the full 4gb, but not certain of that.

I have Windows XP Pro. How much ram will that see?
Thanks for the input. Much appreciated.

Upgraded my memory this weekend. Wow, made a huge difference. I added 2 512s to the existing 2 512s.
I went on a killing spree last night in MA, Well almost. Got spanked by a p51b and augered in an attempt for a pick. Hard to compensate for poor flying. Still though, I could see the enemy a littler more clearly.

Windows 200 Pro and XP Pro will only see around 3.5Gbs out of 4Gbs (varies).
Only way to 'see' more is using XP64, Vista64, or the Server based Windows 2000's.
The 3Gb/4Gb lmit is not as commonly assumed a 32bit - 64bit limit, but a limit imposed by Microsoft in their OS'es.
