Ok we all know the scenario.
Side A has 100, side B has 100, side C has 70. A and B have C backed into the corner of the map. On the A and B front only token skirmishes.
What I would propose is.
Raise the amount of troops needed to capture a C base. Say once country A has taken 40% of C's bases. For A to take any more C bases it takes 5X the troops.
Or tie in eny to troops needed to grab a base.
The higher your eny the more troops needed to grab an enemy base.
eny
5 = 20 troops
10 = 25 troops
15 = 30 troops
ect ect.
Also lower the troops needed to grab a base of the country with eny in effect.
5 = 8 troops
10 =6 troops
15= 4 troops
ect ect.
Just throwing out ideas and numbers are arbitrary.

Was this an idea to supplement ENY or replace it?
an interestinting thought but if the idea was replace ENY I think it will run into a couple problems. The way I view the ENY, and maybe it's a flawed view but it's to essentially make the 1 player on the lower side "better" by compensating for numerical disadvantages with technical superiority. ie to help level the playing field the short sided player has better planes at his/her disposal. If the only restriction on the hording/ganging countries is to increase the level of troops required to capture it does nothing to address the player in the low country getting ganged and logging out of frustration. Sure it will take a little longer to cap the field but the players will still be sitting in the tower watching the carnage.
If the idea it to combine ENY or tie it in to other parts of the game I think is very interesting.
Of course I'm probably not the best sounding board for these things.. .I'd be happy with the front lines moving less rather than more, with longer, more protracted battles for each field. :)

Supplemental for sure, I like eny just think it need a bit more bite.

Intersting, I've been 'toying' with a couple of ideas to make captures easier/harder based on odds for a couple of weeks now. Reduce the impact of ENY where planes are concerned and you might have something.

I like tying the number of troops to ENY much better than your first idea. But regardless, I don't see how this will stop the pointless ganging on a country that is already down and out.
Speaking of making ENY more meaningful, there was an idea way back when the arenas were first split to use ENY as a TRUE side balancer . . . if a side is under ENY restrictions, do not let anyone enter that arena for that side. Give them a pop-up that says "Your country is under ENY restriction of XX. Would you like to a) Enter the arena under a different country or b) try another arena." Have it kick in at whatever minimum ENY level - 10, 15, whatever.

The problem I see is that ENY changes so much (being tied to number of people in flight) that it would be difficult for anyone to know at any particular moment how many troops you would need. What would probably happen is what happens now in a horde - they just bring 3 goons / M3s and just give the place the bum's rush....

I think it's worth it for HiTech to try this as an experiment first, get a consensus, and see where it goes from there.
I'm for it. Great idea!

It is not tied to people "in flight", but rather the total on each side. In other words, anyone sitting in the tower still affects the ENY calculation.

I don't think that makes it any better. A bunch of dweebs sitting in the tower all night (or left online) screws up the entire country. From the other threads on this, the ENY calculation just doesn't seem like a reliable method of play balancing.
