Hey all,
My internet died for the weekend, right after the scenario thank goodness. So this is late in coming.
I want to extend a big thanks to the CM's that put together the Der Grosse Schlag scenario. I was expecting something more like FSO, but this felt alot different. It felt more like a day long FSO but more relaxed- having the extra life made things a bit looser.
Honestly, when I first signed up for AH2 way back 6 months ago, this is what I was expecting. That was hands down the most fun I've had so far playing this game.
The terrain was unreal. And the winter skins on the planes, the lower vis ranges, the lack of radar...it was so much more challenging figuring out where your friends were, where the enemy was, if that dot was a good guy or a bad guy...
Big and see y'all this Saturday.
I hope somebody is stepping up to make this a monthly thing. I don't think this could possibly get old.
-
Was very enjoyable..... see ya there!
-
:aok More fun than 3 months in the main arenas!
If anyone wants to try it, just log on Sat., and you will get a spot. Just type that you need a spot, and someone will help you. Just be patient.

Unfortunately my work schedule has prevented me from participating with the 484'th bomber group. I found everyone involved in this scenario to be great guys and it was a real credit to AH.
Yeah I know its a cartoon game but it is a recreation of an actual event where a lot of good men died. And I'll include in that group the German Luftwaffe whom in my opinion fought an honorable war. Who were they but a bunch of kids who would have preferred living in peace and raising families just like the Yanks ones.
I think the entire AH family was respectful to the men who actually fought that terrible battle and its a real credit to them. I hope I can make the next scenario.
-
I had a blast as well! The way they are doing the AAR's makes it even better since now we don't know what the logs will say. Getting to claim kills and confirm them and whatnot.
I'm bummed that I will have to miss this weekend, going to this
http://www.the-echoproject.com/ (http://www.the-echoproject.com/)
Saturday afternoon I'll be thinking of the battles raging across the German skies!

Your lucky, mine died the morning of frame 1 and didn't come back until 7 that night.

I have been flying on the axis side and it has been totally immersive and
completely addictive in a way that makes the MA pretty tame in comparison.
the realism of this event is amazing in that I can go in any book I have and
read about the situation we face in this scenario and its exactly what the
luftwaffe faced. I find that so compelling and irresistable that I can't wait
to fly the next frame.
If you are looking for max realism luftwaffe flying you need to be there
saturday and experience what the real luftwaffe did in november 1944.
just walk on to the axis side this saturday at 2:30 EDT and contact me or
bearkats and we will get you squared away.
anyone interested in flyign axis can PM me too for more details.

That really you Fester? :)

Besides the fact that the northern guys were race-tracking for a good 2 hours, and then me having to go down for a refuel, bending my prop, and having to re-up, having the allies FINALLY come when I'm taking off, and then have my frame-rate DROP THROUGH THE ROOF when I got to the action...
It was okay. :aok

Careful Oogly....That's coming really close to a whine :)

Toonces, I'm glad you enjoyed it. This has always been my favorite part of the game.
As for Monthly, not on your life!
Took us 3 months to get this one ready with a very significant group of people involved lmao Fencer designed a great event, the players that are going full immersion mode are lunatics, and even the walkons experience something they never expected before.
We try to run a major event like this one quarterly. They are very time consuming, far more than most can imagine.
-
ROC has done a heckuva job
And this is one of the lunatics speaking :)
-
I didn't do it, got a good team and players, I just get to Point :D
-
how long did it last? when does this saturday begin?
-
ROC will vouch for me as being the recipient of the Immersion luny bin award :D
-
it starts at 3pm EDT this saturday for frame 2 and frame 3 and frame 4 follow on the next 2 saturdays. show up at 2:30 on the axis side or PM me so I can get you in a staffel.
I will have your 109 waiting for you eagler :D
-
Saturday 3pm Easter Eagler
Expect 2-3 hours of fun!
-
Fear my pony! I was on escort duty last week. I'm secretly hoping they cut me loose for a fighter sweep.... catch Fester on a 262 climbout.. Muhahaha!

Lunatic checking in. :aok
The whole team that set this up, might be the real lunatics around here. :D

I was thinking the same thing, only from the allied side.

Interesting post Storchy, shame you don't want anything to do with scenarios as you stated a while back. I would have suspected you wouldn't bother to post in here at all, considering These guys actually having a good time has absolutely nothing to do with you at all
:D
-
The scenarios can be a great change of pace from the MAs. They are different worlds entirely when things go well, and can be a great deal of fun to those of a particular mindset.
It's the closest thing to CT that most of you will experience before you die- give it a shot! :)

This saturday begins just after Friday is over and lasts until Sunday. :)

He's a griefer.

There is just no comparison between the MA and a scenario. Scenarios are what brings this game alive for me. I'm having an absolute blast, can't wait 'till the next frame.
Many, many thanks to all those who are making this happen.

I didn't have the time to post an AAR as I had to leave for Florida a few hours after the scenario.
Scenarios are the reason that I stilll am here.
I find myself spending less time in the MA then I did a few months ago.
The CM team to say the least is spectacular. I can't imagine the hours of work they put in to bring a Scenario together. It's generally thankless work and greatly under appreciated.
Thanks to ROC, Brooke, and Roo for making this the best scenario to date in Aces High.
Also thanks to Fencer for his many many hours of work designing this Scenario and also leading the Allied side in this event.
Organizing and leading the miscreants who are the Allied COs in this event is probably something similar to driving "the short Bus". ;)

Not sure why storch even came in here to try and ruin a great thread.
Anyway, it was AWESOME and I can't wait until the next frame. Thanks to all the organizers and command staff, you do a great job!

Last Saturday's 3 hours in the Scenario was more fun than 3 months in the main arenas.
-
Thats my first time in one on saturday its just a pity you only get two goes at it as I was really enjoying myself the ma has become really boring of late and this was a huge breath of fresh air.:)
-
Well I posted this before on axis forum, but I think it's definitely on topic here too:

I was looking at those pictures of the cross-hatch contrails above the b-17 formations.
After the Scenario, I know why. It's work for a P-51 to match the bomber speed and still stay in the air at 30k. The cross-hatch allows you to keep up your air-speed and still stay with the bombers.
Those of us that love WWII planes really appreciate the immersion factor of the Scenarios.
Thanks to all who make it possible.

In Texas? In October?
What's the point?

Maybe a grounding for an infraction would solve the problem?

Way cool there Lusche!

Anyone who wants to see what it's like to fly in the senario, check out this video I put together.
You axis' guys are welcome to watch too. Just make sure you don't ruin your leather panties.
Click here to download (http://lgmfilms.net/aceshigh/Der%20Grosse%20Schlag.zip)
Senario starts at 3pm EST all this month on Saturday. Frame 1 is over and we still get to fly 3 more. Show up at least 30 minutes early to get a spot you really want.
If you want to fly a bomber, pm me or Alpo (B24s) to reserve a spot for you as a walkon as best as we can. We can get you up to speed.

fantastic video!!! I recomend that for AH2 commercial for sure.
you bomber pilots are missing out if you don't fly Der Grosse Schlag.
seriously!
the luftwaffe is running out of bomber targets and we need more.
-
 WOW:eek: Great video Kermit. I had to watch it 3 times in a row. Flying the p51, I liked the shot with one flying through the bomber formation.
I can't wait for the full length movie after it's all over with.......:D
-
What a great film!
-
Amazing video
-
Nice job Kermit!
-
Made it to show those that haven't played in a Senario, what it looks and feels like to do so.
Hope this helps inspire future B17 Pilots that want in on the action.
Thanks for the compliments. Was an editing feat for me.
Good luck Allied and Happy Hunting Fester.
Edit:
to ASW for making the incredibly beautiful map!

Nice Kermit!

Great movie Kermit - that's definitely going into the DGS archive :aok
Cheers,

-
Lol, nice job Kermit! The Conan music is a perfect match. :)
-
Yeah, I also liked the Conan soundtrack. :) Nice job, Kermit!
Thanks to all the people (CM's, asw & terrain team, Fencer) who put this scenario together, and to all the people flying this one!

yep. its good propaganda film but you should show what happened to the b17s in front of you after the scenario is over for a better film. :)
noticed you kept the camera always pointing backwards so as not to show the allied disaster in front of you :D
-
Sounds like some germans are overclaiming their kills...
This film clearly shows what happened to the germans.
Looks like we Bomber Pilots are being served fresh eggs tomorrow morning.

finally got a chance to watch it Kermit.. nice work sir
