Was supposed to be in Tokyo by now on business and I was really looking forward to this trip.  Even took a couple of Japanese language courses so I could at least try and speak with my co-workers over there.  Alas, I've got a severe sinus infection and the doctors won't let me fly.  What makes it really suck is my girlfriend is going in my place to do the training I was supposed to do.  Now I have no idea when I'll ever get the chance to go to Japan.  Karma can suck sometimes.

No freakin' kidding.  Let me guess, you went to the doctor for the sinus infection.  During the exam, you brightly mention "Oh, hey, I'm going to Japan the day after tomorrow!"  

The doctor, pulling off his glove and telling you you can sit down again, clears his throat.  "That's not...  entirely accurate."

"But I've been looking forward to this trip!"  You protest, pausing only to blow your nose.  "Also, this is a sinus infection, right?  Why the prostate exam?"

"Oh, I just like to stay in practice.  Anywho, with that sinus infection, you could injure yourself in the lower cabin pressure of the airplane.  We don't like to advertise it, but your head could actually explode."

"Gosh!"  you exclaim, taking off the nipple clamp, "that sounds like it would really hurt!"

"No problem, just send your girlfriend in your place.  Here, you can tell her yourself.  Nurse!  Get in here, Ack-Ack has news for you.  And go ahead and tell your two o'clock to cancel, a paddling can be rescheduled, but YOU have some packing to do!"

I am otw back to Toyko next week, and not looking forward to it.   I don't mind the trip, just hate the long flights.   Hey, maybe me and your GF and meet up for some sake?  ;)

I try to stay away from Tokyo. Too many noisy, scary gaikokujin... :)
