Title: If there's one thing/event you could live to see--what would it be?
Post by: Neubob on October 11, 2007, 10:37:06 AM
Yes, we all want to live to see our kids grow up and flourish and all that good stuff, but I mean on a global basis.

If there's one milestone in human development that you simply cannot miss--what is it?

Here's mine:

I want to live to see the West completely abandon its reliance on oil. I want to see it replaced with a renewable power source that will allow for cars to be just as fast as powerful, but without the tremendous political pricetag that such consumption carries today. Most of all, I want to see the economic benefits of such technology remain here, where they belong, and I want to see the West embrace these benefits without the slightest twinge of guilt.

I guess that's a couple milestones, but what the hell.... It's thursday

Your turn:

I would love to live long enough to experience the second coming of the Lord our Savior, Jesus Christ.

I think that would be one hell of an experience!

:aok

Also, I think it would be neat to live long enough to experience our sun going super nova!  Perhaps that would be equal to the second coming :O

Chuck Norris to start playing AH2 and completely and totally owning all the squeekers!!!

Personally I'm waiting on WW3.  It's been far too long since and big biys decided to have at it (not counting proxy wars).   You know it's got to happen sometime.

I'd like to see the development of a workable FTL(Faster-Than-Light) drive developed and used. Also, I'm with RTR on a Mars landing.

I want to see the people of Britain make a stand against the PC fueled lying ******* politicians in this country.

Doubt I'll live long enough to see it though.

Self-sufficient matter transmutators, aging's end (http://www.sens.org/), space travel with previous two.
If I get to see these, I'll make myself a rocket, (hack and) download the library of congress (and others like it) for myself, and **** right off to outer space... build hotrods, warbirds and all sorts of contraptions somewhere with gravity close enough to Earth's, etc.  If after a few hundred years it gets too boring, I'll fly into the sun or a blackhole.

I want to live to see me as the sole surving male, trapped on an island with thousand of voluptous, tan females, who need someone to impregnate them in order to repopulate the human species.

I'll be eating oysters like crazy after the first week.

Really?

Well, that would have to be the eventual collapse of the universe back upon itself.

I'd like to live long enough to see the anthropogenic global warming advocates eat their words when the sun goes through its next cooling cycle and mean global temperatures fall like they did in the 70's.  The cry from the environmentalists was "human industrial activities will trigger an ice age through the introduction of smoke particles and aerosols into the atmosphere, which block sunlight."

True space colonization, efficient and cheap enough to spread humans beyond the Earth on a permanent basis.  Ideally this would be outside the solar system so we're not relying on just one sun.

I want to peer through a telescope down on Curval’s face as all of humanity (except for him) is whisked away in an alien starship toward Eternal Intergalactic Utopia, leaving him, and only him, truly alone in the universe.

I like kittens... the two work cats we have at the facility I run (500 acres) were rescued by me.   cute little carnivors... best killing machines I have ever seen... the last thing most mice... and snakes..see is their cute, furry little mugs.

What do I want to see?  well...storchita joining the "lemmings of pray" would just be silly...

I have seen a lot of really neat things happen already... I am sure I will see more before it is over.   right now... I would like to see affordable solar panel systems that would power a home easily and open up a lot more land for settlement that is farther away from all the sheeple.   next 2 or three years would be fine.

With that we would see power on the domestic grid be an "all you can eat" price of maybe $50 a month to simply take up the load for people with weak solar panel systems.

And why not?  I seen internet go from $2 an hour to all you can eat.   I seen phones do it.   why not power?

don't know how to post pics and... the "kittens" are 28 and 14 pounds of killing machine at this point.

They are also chick magnets... every woman who visits goes ape**** over em and sees me in a more "sensitive" light.   How could I be a bad person eh?

yep... he is 28 lbs.. the only way to weigh the thing is to weigh yourself then pick up the damn thing and weigh yourself again.    He was always big even as a kitten but the good life has been very very good to him.

He looks like he could barely walk but I have seen him flip over backwards and pluck a swallow out of the air... cats abilities always amaze me.
