Title: F-Body/LT1 guys Help
Post by: Entr0py on October 11, 2007, 08:40:37 PM
Maybe some of the more seasoned LT1 guys can help me decide among 3 possible directions as far as powerplant is concerned.  Current setup: 104227 "baby cam", 1.6 rockers,  long tubes. The 3 possible directions: 1) 75-100 shot on current motor and call it a day. 2) Forged 355. 3) Some sort of budget 383 build.  I know theres a few rodders around here and I would greatly appreciate any input....Thanks.

Put a blower on it :)  Turbo or supercharger, either way your choice.

In my opinion, nothing beats a stroker.

Stroker. Use the Eagle kit with forged crank, H beam rods, and SRP pistons. Have the heads ported and polished by a professional, use Ferrea valves in them. Comp Xtreme Energy or Lunati Voodoo for the cam. Get a FAST (from Comp) computer for tuning capability.

I suggest you buy a couple of books on LT1 engines mods and "prooven combos" so you can make your own idea of what fits your expectations. Go to Barnes & Nobles or Borders, they usually have a couple on the shelves for this popular engine. Here's a link to Classic Industry's chevy book section to give you an idea.
