The "Tips" thread here cautions against using the 9x.xx drivers.
The latest on the NVidia site for my 7800GS card is now 163.71
Is it safe?

It is worse. You are stuck woth the 9x.xx drivers. One of the individuals on the board went to a lot of trouble to hack up some 8x.xx version of drivers for his card and they work flawlessly. He could not get his computer stable on 9x.xx drivers,, or later.
EDIT: Maybe it another of the 7xxx series, but I am sure there is a 7xxx video card that is not supported by the 8x.xx drivers, I just cannot remember which one.

I am running the version 84.21 driver from the NVidia site, which I'll happily email to anyone out there who'd like a copy.
Thanks for the quick reply, Skuzzy!

I'm running the 93.71 with my EVGA 7800GS CO - works great

Im using the 93.71 drivers from XFX, only because they work about the best for my card which is the AGP version of the 7600GT. The hacked 84 series, were they hacked to allow AGP? because normally they are only for the PCIE If they do I would love to try them, THINK Skuzzy WHO WAS IT!
LOL thanks

Last I heard and installed was 163.71 from Nvidia themselves

You might want to check the install proceedure before though
