Title: Free Sound Recorder and Editing Programs?
Post by: eskimo2 on October 13, 2007, 01:17:24 PM
Windows XP had a great little basic and simple to use sound recorder.  It had some basic and useful editing options.

My new machine at home and new machines in my school lab are Vista, however.  Overall I like Vista, but they totally butchered some features like Sound Recorder.  It has a record button, which becomes a stop button, which automatically opens a Save dialog box.  It’s nearly worthless.  I’ve always taught my students basic sound editing with Sound Recorder, but now it looks like I better download something else.

What free sound recorder programs have you used?  Emphasis on simplicity of use, please.

BTW, they also completely did away with MS Photo Editor.  I’ve installed Paint.NET on my lab machines; it’s free, relatively powerful and pretty user friendly.  I like it much more than the more popular and also free Gimp.

I liked Goldwave but I didn't buy it. This one's free and it seems I used it a lot.

That looks like a great program, thanks.  It may be a bit complicated for my 3rd graders, but junior high kids should love it.
