Title: Invalid Component 0
Post by: AAolds on October 16, 2007, 12:48:49 AM
When im up in the air destroying GVs with bombs I've gotten "invalid component 0" messages on many occasions.    What is the meaning of this message?  Like i had a dud bomb or is it a glitch?  If a glitch, will it be fixed?

It's a bug.
I believe it can be fixed.

It's been around for a while..  I "think" is happens when you bomb a GV and you release too low.. But I am not really sure..

I get it a lot when I am in an A-20 dropping on a panzer.

I do not think it is 'too low'.

Same deal with me when in the A20 vs panzers.    Im sure its not the too low part.  When too low, the bomb does not even explode or it takes me with it.

U guys bombing in A-20's, it's kind of like sticking your finger in an electrical outlet.  You know you are gonna get shocked.  So, the point is, quit bombing panzers in a A-20, it's that simple.

I'm not Skuzzy, but I stayed in a Holiday Inn Express last night.

Searching to find that wouldn't have helped.  I've had it happen to me in F6F-5's and Ju-87's in sectors completely clear of both friendly and enemy planes.

It just happened to me two or three nights ago in a Ju-87 defending a VB against Panzer and we were the only two even remotely close to the area.

Still, it is a bug that should be fixed.
It's that simple.

It wont happen if you bomb just off the vehicle. If it lands on top you get this message.

Miss for a kill?  Seems contrary to logic.

Was in a B17G with 12 500lbs.
Meatwad was in a IL2.

I only got 3 kills out of 12 bombs...the rest all said invalid component.
And they were all dead on.

Invalid Component 0 happened to me last night. V Base, I was in an Osty. Tried to shoot ACK with cannon and got the message 3 times. There were no aircraft in the area and only a total of 5 GVs. I never killed the ACK even with the direct hits. I've encountered this in aircraft while dropping eggs on GVs, but never in a GV (until now).

Just posting when it happens doesn't help. Post a raw film and they can gather data from it.

I have it happen again, this time when I was in a F4u1C droppin a 1000lb bomb on a panzer.  Im just lookin at likes its just dud bomb.  It is annoying, but duds were a factor in the war, so why not here.

It looks like Ill be going after FireFlies and T34's instead of panzers when possible then... this is especially frustrating for me, since pretty much the only way to kill something with a PB1 rocket (190F8) is either by actually hitting it (which usually gives me invalidcomponent0) or putting a boatload of them right next to it...

Sometimes caused by a corrupt cache folder.

Try  deleting the contents of the cache folder and letting it rebuild when you log on.

Yep, too bad you do not see many M4's or T34s...

I thought PB1's were air to air...guess not.

Nope... WGR210's and R4M's are air to air. And we dont have R4M's. Id like to have them though... 24 were mounted on the wings of 262's, fired all at once for a 'shotgun effect'.

Ahh yes I read something like that before. That would be cool to have. Wasn't it only on the Me-262-A2 though?
