After getting TIR and LOVING IT this seems like the next logical step, ive read a few reviews on flightsim.com and even watched a video about them and it seems everyone who has laid their hands on them loves them, they look really interesting, and at only $100 (for the wireless ones, wired is cheaper) it seems like a worthwhile purchase.
anyone else have any experience with them?
-
I have a pair of wired ones
they cut your fr in half and with the gun sight floating out there in 3d, it is hard to hit anything at all
-
hmm, thats odd. AH is on the list of games its tested with..
im wondering what your talking about it cutting your FR in half.. are you saying it causes an extra load the drops the FR? or are you just talking about how it works..
as for the gunsight thing.. that sounds wierd alright..
-
how about you pm a shipping address and I'll mail them to you with the disk and see if you like them. If you do, you can send me what you think they are worth. deal?
-
I play AH in 3D - but not with the ED glasses. It does look pretty, but yeah the gunsight does get wonky, what sort of monitor do you have - LCD or CRT?
-
21" LCD,
Im just intrigued by the, idea, of 3d.. I had heard of these glasses but never looked into them because i *Thought* I knew how they worked... I.e. that they replaced the monitor, not worked with it..
but after reading and reading reviews from flightsim.com, combatHQ.. etc etc. probably a dozen reviews.. Im pretty much sold on them..
BUT.. AH is the only game I play with any frequency so if they have some wierd quirk with it.. it would be a loss to buy them.
and thanks for the offer Eagler, but between my headphone wire, and my track clip pro wire... one more wire and ill probably hang myself... or actually i WILL hang myself, intentionally or not would be the only question.

hmmm

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think shutter glasses only work with CRT's?
The gunsight isn't a wierd quirk, its more because I have a dominant left eye and the left eye throws my aim off. But I was never a great shot to start off with and I can correct for it. The flipside is my high deflection shots are insane - and most of my kills come from these (being able to judge distance and speed properly in 3D for a crossing shot and NOT spraying :) )
-
I've only tried mine on a crt but the ed site has a driver for the lcd

Just be aware that shutter glasses are not for everyone. I for one get nauseous after a few minutes of use because of the flickering (even with 140hz CRT).
That and lack of true 3D support (and nvidia still not having a 8800 stereo driver) in most games lead to shelling the glasses after a couple days trials. Well they cost only $30 anyway.
-
Dunno bout you but I use lotsa games with true 3d support, AH, Farcry, Oblivion, UT, Enenmy Engaged, LOMAC, FS X etc

dunno where your getting your info about the lack of 3d support and the glasses costing $30..
I think your thinking of a different product.

Different product yes, different technology no. My experience with shutter glasses was 100% negative. I'm thinking of experimenting with HMD (head mounted display) next because 3D is what I want.
-
Glasses got here today, cant figure out how to get them to work..
Manual is piss poor, as is the website..
I have an Nvidia Card, and an LCD monotor. so it says I need to use the E-D drivers not the nvidia, but it it doesent tell me where to get them or anything else.
so far no good

Well if you have any HMD questions fire away.

UPDATE:
still cant get it to work, sent ED a e-mail
I have tried everything I can think of.. still.. NOTHING..
-
What happens?
Did you get the driver here: http://www.edimensionalfiles.com/solo11/downloads/E-Dupdate.exe
-
yea, doesent work, acts like it installing, but after reboot PC still does "new hardware found" and display adapter is in "other devices"
-
Sorry wish I could help more, but I use the nvidia native stereo drivers.
-
UPDATE:
still no reply from eD,
been raking the guru 3d forums, and have tried various nvida drivers (display and stereo) and also the eD drivers and combos of both.. bet drivers, older drives, drivers that climb on rocks..
glasses will not work with any application, get the same result as soon as I turn 3d on, my desktop gets blurry and flickers, and no game, 3d app will even launch.
-
I had to do some extensive tweaking to get the 3D glasses to work on the 8800GTS and in the end I had to remove the glasses and the drivers because the last official nvidia driver dates before the 8800 and the only thing that's available is a beta driver which is .. err.. beta.
The beta driver might help you so if you wish I can try to dig it up for you. I got the 8800 working with it.
