Sounds to me like this kid was ready to start some stuff. Tear gas, a gas mask, body armor, AK-47 and a shotgun?? That is pretty scary stuff for a HS student to own.

IN!

Wearing body armour to school, unless you live somewhere like Compton, is probably a tad suspicious don't you think?  Going off the article, his evasiveness was probably also a little worrisome.

While doing a search for the "Clear Out" gas I found this.

reviewer:  phillip richie from pendleton county kentucky
i have also used the tear gas to clear my home of a couple of robbers that were in my home i hade it in my car and i threw 3 cans of it in my house and they ran out of there falling on the ground and crying thats when the cops came and arrested them.

LOL. What a tard. Who the hell tosses tear gas into his own home? This has to be a BS story. I found it here in the review section.

Apparently, anyone can buy this stuff. I found it for sale on a few different websites.

Well, it does work, because robbers do not tend to be equipped with gas masks. No need for a shoot out. Just make sure you're wearing a gas mask. It might take some time to clean it up, but at least you lost nothing and risked nothing :)

I wouldn't arrest anyone for wearing a bulletproof vest at school. Why would someone ban those, especially in the freedom country, where you're allowed to shoot a robber. You'd think it would be a constitutional right to wear a bulletproof vest :D

From what I read, the kid was not arrested for wearing a BP vest.

Wearing a bulletproof vest was just an indicator, something out of the ordinary that caused the school officials to take a closer look.

When the law enforcement officials took a look, they executed a search warrant and found the worries of school officials reasonably justified.

Maybe I mis-read the article, I am at work and do get interupted by phone calls from my sales department constantly.

He had the vest on at school, but the guns were at home.

Last time I checked, it was completely legal to have a AK and a shotgun and the ammunition for those at your house.  It is also legal to purchase 'long guns' (shotguns/rifles) and ammunition as long as you are 18+.

There has to be more to the story, the charges were Armed Tresspassing, he was a student at the school so that's not a tresspassing charge.  Grand theft, nothign in  the article mentioned him stealing anything.  And Criminal Mischief, my firend got charged with that for shooting people on the sidewalk with a water gun from a hotel balcony... kinda like disorderly conduct, it's the catch all law to arrest you for being annoying.

Bringing the can of "Clear Out" on to school property (yes the parking lot is school property) could have been enough to get a search warrant, depends on the local and state laws for that kinda of stuff

I might be wrong. but unless your in law enforcement or otherwise authorized.
Isn't it illegal for your average Joe blow to own or wear a bulletproof vest to begin with?

Least that's what I was always told

But the only illegal thing supposedly found was marijuana.  Nothing else done was illegal.

I'm not judging one way or another.

Just thought I'd offer some interesting reading on the subject:

I like how the guns mentioned were AK47's. Isnt a real AK47 strictly an automatic weapon? Those are somewhat regulated and after a good amount of red tape and lots of money one can own one legaly. The kid musta been saving his lunch money for awhile.

I guess my old NHM-91 can now be a full fledged AK-47 and my AR-15 is now a full fledged M-16. Cool I'm going to go sell them now for 3 times what they are worth and nobody will have to worry bout all that red tape and stuff cause aparently anybody can have the real thing now.

I wish for once someone in the media will use their head. Be nice to see the look on the faces of the media rep when they are asked if the kid had a class 3 firearms license to own and operate a full automatic weapon.

Had they been fully auto AK47's, they would have been described as machine guns.  However, since they were not machine guns, the drive by media sought to make them sound as scary as possible.

Hence, 3 AK47's.

Young son..an AK-47 is a full auto weapon.

We lost the definition between aks/akm years ago, AK-47 is the catch all.

All evil looking rifles are AK-47's.

There are very few full auto ak47's in the US.

If this guy has 3 of them, he is likely a lottery winner, because no one under ordinary means could purchase 1 of them for ****s and giggles, much less 3.

Or he converted them in about 20 min.
