Just curious, if I mess with the Dual Core procedure outlined in Skuzzy's sticky, is this reversible by rolling back to an earlier restore point? Something tells me it's not...
A little background... have an Intel Pentium D 915 dual core machine running well for several months now, running an NVidia 8800 vid card under XP-SP2 Pro. No problems the whole time, but suddenly the other night I get this texture flashing/strobing in the Terrain Editor. Search on the BBS leads me to believe that it's the dual core issue and that this "fix" will not only solve the strobing, but improve overall system performance. Sounds good.
Except now the TE has not done that strobing last couple of nights and I wonder if something else was up. I'd try the dual core fix if I knew I wasn't going to make things worse and it was reversible.
Bottom line, my computer runs just fine otherwise. :)

It would probably not have any effect on your Prescott dual-core. The hotfix applies only to the Core2 and AMD dual-core CPU's and later.
I would think what you saw was most probably heat related. It certainly sounds like a heat related manifestation.

Thanks Skuzzy. :)
