Title: Customer Service at HTC
Post by: SteveBailey on October 19, 2007, 12:11:29 PM
I've heard plenty of complaints over the years about how HTC doesn't listen to their customers... etc.

Here's my experience w/ HTC:

I have been having a bit of trouble w/ a ram upgrade that trickled down to AH.  I had a thought, picked up the phone and called HTC, asked for Roy (skuzzy).

Skuzzy stayed on the phone for a good 10-15 minutes with me.  He patiently answered several varying questions, taking the time to explain his answer each time so I was clear on what I needed to do, and what was going on with my computer. My problems had nothing to do with his product but Skuzzy put aside whatever he was doing in his busy day to help me out. Cleary, Skuzzy went way out of his way to  help a customer and for this I'm both impressed and grateful.

Thanks for your help, Roy!

Concur

The whole staff is first rate.  I've called them twice and have gotten all of the help and more than I could have possibly hoped for.

If I had anything to offer I'd send in a resume and keep my fingers crossed.

So that's why the BBS is full of garbage at times... people like you calling and distracting skuzzy.

In all honesty, these guys do have some of the best CS around.  You think EA would have helped you... even if it was their product causing the problem?

Got to agree, if your civil and ask nicely they'll go way beyond what you'd expect in support of their product.

At the last Con I was at I witnessed Skuzzy doing tech support all day and night for many things that had nothing to do with AH. He always had a smile on his face.

Truly, he's one of HTC's greatest assets...

Over the years I've had to call or email HTC for various things,  account issues, video cards, troublesome individuals in the game and always got great service and help no matter who answered the phone, Skuzzy, Pyro, Hitech, Sudz, Natdog,...

and at the Cons I've also seen Hitech and Pyro take the time to help people with various game and system problems.

Ive called a few times. Each time I call, the phone is answered in 3 rings or less. After my problem has been solved they make a lil small talk and Im on my way. Also all my emails have been answered in a few days never had a problem with it.

Us Avengers are new kids on the block, but we have had superb support from HTC as well as the community.  We had a couple of our pilots that had major computer issues when we moved over from another flight sim.  The help we recieved to correct the computer issues was nothing short of impressive when compared to where we came from.  We like what we see so far and will be sticking around.

Dittos on all the above. HTC is one of the last business's on the planet where the phones are answered by real live human beings, willing and able to resolve problems.

Kudos to you all :aok

I agree.....

My times one the phone with Skuzzy were INDESPENSIBLE, and he went above and beyond...customer service with my OWN employees is paramount, I'd be PROUD if they worked for me.

Rosie was a GEM.

Bless the folks at HTC!!!!

They do a GREAT job!

My hat is off to HTC and staff.

BTW: HTC

A RAISE might be in order.

I'd do it.

Great customer service = a raise.

Your call, but keeping good folks is cheaper than training new ones.

Your call.

I've had the same experiance with Roy, several times I've emailed him about things and he's always responded to any of my questions the same day.  I have to say HTC's customer service is top rate.

I've heard that if you catch skuzzy talking with a donut in his mouth, It almost resembles Finnish:aok

But on a Serious Note:
I've helped many peeps with ingame problems (Usually their computer not AH) but when I'm stumped, I always tell em to call Skuzzy.

Have never had to call HTC, and as a eurotard that is prolly a good thing for my wallet ;)

Would be nice to see HTC adding the option to call em via Skype or something similar. Alot cheaper for guys outside the US who would pay a small fortune for some help.

Well, back in 2001(when my handle was tailight), I was quite impressed by HTC CS when I was first setting up my account and connections. But this year, I experienced one not-so-happy-about-it case. ...

Sometimes skuzzy DO ignore your mail for asking help. He banned my office IP (for all forum), cause he though my forum ID was a shade of some-eco-evangelist... Well, he erased my post and blocked my IP. I tried to explain that it isn't, but he ignored all my mail afterwards. That was the only time I was disappointed at HTC, since 2001. Not because he erased/banned my posting (he's the moderator) but he didn't tell me why. Well, I didn't get any explanation like "see rule #"  He just changed my posting as "I am the shade" , and blocked the IP, and ignore my mails... I felt, ... he was quite rude. He should at least told me that what was wrong and why he had to erase my posting ... You know, I was flying AH for years, and I felt "this is how you treat your customer", eh, such.

I think I should have make a call to talk, but as I was staying in South Korea, It wan't really worth for the money and time.  I just gave up. (so the IP IS still blocked, but who cares. ) I believe skuzzy is a decent person, but it seems that forum is too full of garbage for him to be a polite moderater. :)

Oh, this thread IS about how good HTC customer support is ... on that, I have no objections. (But I would like to yell , 'please don't ignore my mail ever again!!' )

If you've never moderated or admin'd an active forum you have no idea how hard it is not to get jaded.  Trust me this is something I know about. :D

I have never ignored anyone's email.  I even respond to hate mail.  I cannot count how many times I have checked the email logs to find the email being delivered to the remote ISP's SMTP server and the user never gets it.

More than likely it was the victim of some over zealous SPAM filter.

I continue to tell folks, if you do not get a reposnse within 24 hours of sending an email to support, then it either did not get here or the response was dropped by your ISP, or you have the incorrect return email address in your email program.

If you chose to think I am ignoring you, that is your choice.  But that choice does not reflect reality.

100 yrs ago i bought a computer for entertainment(ok- porn), soon i wanted to fly. I came across "aces high". I knew how to turn a computer on, and I knew I wanted to fly, thats the extent of my computer knowledge before a/h. Someone there at htc, walked me thru dang near EVERYTHING one would need to know to get started, these folks are first class, all the way around if ya asked me,. Checks in the mail, glad to hear customer support is still first class, htc.

I'll vouch for the "Skuzzy doesn't ignore people"... I thought he had done just that to me after IP banning me...  turns out my cable modem had apparently switched to some IP that had been previously banned (I didn't even know that was possible), and he had not gotten my previous email asking about it.

I've had no problems dealing with him at all since, he's a good guy in my book.

I will say in the past there have been 2 or 3 emails I never received the response to, where others I have all to the same yahoo email address.... but those in question were about possible "C word" things and the like, so I am not surprised.

every other time the emails have been prompt and accurate dealing with whatever issue it may be.

on the phone everyone have been excellent too. when I came back to the game I created an in game account one evening, and called the next day to get my old name back... the "new" account was given a 2 week trial, and I even OFFERED to pay right away, but they wouldn't take the CC info or change the account to a normal. they let it go through the 2 week thing then it became a paying account.

name a company that would do that, even to a repeat customer??????

<<>> to HTC folks, they have always been great, even when I drink too much mead and make an bellybutton of myself at their convention. :aok :D

Boy is that the truth.

A few years ago I gave some serious consideration to moving over to WWIIOL. It was the customer service (or actually lack of) that kept me from moving over to WWIIOL. You can't call and talk to anyone, but you can always call HTC and get a real person.

Got to love it at this day and age.
