Title: New sound packs released!
Post by: Fruda on October 22, 2007, 07:56:33 PM
http://www.sitesled.com/members/fruda

Inside are links for my brand-new, high-quality, authentic sound packs: F4U Corsair, P-51 Mustang, P-47 Thunderbolt, and Supermarine Spitfire.

This took a very long time to complete, as I had to start from scratch several times over. After about the sixth time, I just decided to run for it and finish my work... And this is the result. These have been formatted for dedicated sound cards, though they still sound great with on-board chips (I'm running lame AC'97 and they sound fantastic).

Enjoy, and be on the lookout for more packs soon. And by soon, I mean whenever I get around to making more of them. Which may or may not be soon.

Okay people, a small cause for alarm...

...The sounds that I just uploaded had one EQ Pass too many. So, all I had to do was drop one EQ Pass and then upload all of the packs again, which I've just done. Refer to the link in the topic post, and also notice that the file sizes are a bit smaller, due to less information being needed, thanks to one less EQ Pass.

I downloaded the p51 file & spitfire file & when I opened them to play them, the p51 had only one file in it called bomb wav & the spit file was a 20mm. Where are the other files?:cry

Looks like his site got pulled.

Post by: Fruda on October 23, 2007, 05:53:58 PM
Nah, it hasn't been pulled. The transfer limit's just been exceeded. Tomorrow, it'll be back up and running. It's only 1gb/day, so think of it as a bit of a waiting line.

If anybody has a site that they can host them on, I'd be glad to allow it.

You can use RapidShare (http://www.rapidscare.com/) if you don't mind the tackiness and hourly download limit.

I've been down the RapidShare road before, and it's safe to say that I won't be going there again...

Can't you just upload the file to a file storage network like http://www.4shared.com/ and then just post the link to download it on here?

Didn't know about that site. I'm uploading all four packs as I type this.

Links:

Chance Vought F4U Corsair: http://www.4shared.com/file/27269851/6d9b35cc/Chance_Vought_F4U_Corsair.html
North American P-51 Mustang: http://www.4shared.com/file/27269974/2e05c9f6/North_American_P-51_Mustang.html
Republic P-47 Thunderbolt: http://www.4shared.com/file/27270502/c155655a/Republic_P-47_Thunderbolt.html
Supermarine Spitfire: http://www.4shared.com/file/27269587/398e7de7/Supermarine_Spitfire.html

The speed's nowhere near as fast as my home site's, but it'll do.

I've never installed custom sounds before, after I download them where do I put them?

EDIT:When I open the sounds folder in AH it's empty, I have Windows XP, so if the files are hiding how do I see them?

AHII doesn't come with any default sounds, so the Sounds directory is empty.

Could you use ZIP instead of RAR?

Sure I could find a program to open RAR's but I just dont want it...

mipoikel

I use winace to extract winrar files. You might want to give it a try. It's very simple & I haven't had any issues with it.

Oh & free download too

RAR makes smaller files, it compresses better.

Great sounds, Fruda.

There's literally no reason to use .ZIP when you can use .RAR. It makes downloads smaller, and has much less chance of corrupting information.

Yeah I don't see why anyone would have a problem with RAR files, they're basically no diffrent then a Zip file, and I also don't get why anyone would say they don't trust them, that just really doesn't make any sense.  All you need to extract the files is a program called Winrar, like I said, it's basically the same as a Zip file, it's just better.  Winrar will also unpack Zip files for you too.

I just realized I misspelled that URL. :lol

Anyways, the whole ZIP/RAR debate has to do with Windows. Zip is integrated into Windows, RAR isn't...woo.

You can also use winzip to unzip .rar files.  It's what I use.
