Title: AH Sounds folder
Post by: trax1 on October 23, 2007, 08:43:17 PM
I downloaded Fruda's new sound pack and wanted to install it.  I've never installed custom sounds in AH before, so I know they need to go into the sounds folder but when I opened the sounds folder it was empty.  I'm running Windows XP and the only thing I can think of is that the files and folders for each planes sounds are hiden, so what do I do so I can see them and replace the old sounds with the new one's?

Just unpack the .RAR archives in the Sounds folder, and that's it.

I did that and the new sounds are not working, I'm still getting the old sounds in the game.  When I opened the sounds folder it was empty except for 1 text doc that was titled "Cleaned" and inside said "Token file for removing old files", any idea why this might be, and why there were no sound files or folders in my sounds folder to begin with?

I've already tried re-installing AH, but I just get the same thing, an empty folder except for that text doc.

AHII comes default without any sounds in the folder whatsoever. All default sounds are hard coded into the game; the Sounds directory is used simply as a means of overriding them with custom content.

First, you need to remove the .txt document. Next, unpack all of the .RAR files into the /Sounds folder. That's all there is to it.

I'll try that, I thought there was supposed to be the sound files in there and just over write them, thanks Fruda.

The default sounds used to come in .wav format, but no longer do, trax - a few releases back, HTC changed the sound format. That's why the folder is empty. Just unpack and play.
