Normally I do my best to stay away from controversial subjects but, IN MY OPINION, this is taking 'freedom of speech' way too far. I am literally nauseous.

 That seriously needs sorting out.........at JFK, there was an Army bod returning...dunno from where, didnt ask - I did however salute him, shake his hand and thank him for his service.........I got a lot of funny looks.....but frankly, I dont give a rats left nut!

I laughed at them. What a bunch of tardlings!
Chanting like morons, hiding their faces.
Crap, they couldn't even get it to light at first.
Let 'em choose to personify the word moron.
None of them deserve a second look or even the brief attention they're getting from this vid.

What brave souls hiding behind masks. The life of a coward I guess.

Back in 1991 I was fresh out of HS and turned down a 4 year hitch in the US Army.
Fast forward to August, the Ann Arbor Art Fair was fun. Bunch of folks walking around getting $25 fines for smoking joints.
I turn the corner with some of my friends, and I sprint away. I rounded the building first and saw someone burning the American flag. There was a cop standing 20 feet from these guys. I lunge at the person holding it, and proceed to pound him to a bloody pulp.
I get up and walk up to the cop and said, "You gonna arrest me?" The cop replied "Hell no, between you and me, I was waiting for someone to beat the ***** out of him."
To burn a mock soldier is the one way ticket to "get out of the country with all you can carry with two hands and don't return." Same with flag burning.
It is ONLY "free speech", so as long as you do not infringe on the rights of others. They're still pu**ies nonetheless.

And this is it in a nutshell...listen to this wise man :)
No we have not taken "freedom of speech" too far.

Well said Shamus & toad. Anytime someone talks about "taking freedom of speech too far", it underscores a dramatic lack of understanding about the nature of our constitution.

No, it doesn't. And the 1st Amendment DOES NOT protect EVERY form of speech, nor was it intended to.
-
CVH, you may be surprised to find out that it doesn't only protect popular speech.

No, I would not. But congratulations on your error in judging me.

I'm all for them being able to protest in such a manner. How else could we all see how warped they are?

Well virgil should these guys be arrested?

Simply because you disagree with something should not make it illegal. In a free society you take everything that comes with it, the good, the bad and the completely ludacris.
I don't have to agree with you or anyone else and I can show it in any way I see fit, so long as that does not impune upon your rights as a citizen. Sure, those punks are just that, punks. Yet, what makes their ideology any more or less arguable than ours? Perhaps the monks in Myanmar could discuss this with you and clarify it further.

Id be all for importing one of their Alquada buddies. Stick him in the crowd with em. We'd be down 1 terrorist, a buncha traitors and he'd get his virgins for blowing up a buncha Amis. everyone would be happy.

Actually it isnt.
I dont like what they are doing either but Freedom of speach was so that you and I could be critical of our government.
that being said
Just about every soldier I've talk to said if you want to support the soldier then you support their mission.
and if you arent supportive of the mission then you arent supporting them and should just STFU
their words not mine
bottom line is the time for arguing if we should have gone in or not is long outdated by the fact we are there.

No, it protects the ability to say what you mean to say. Ostensibly, the first ammendment does protect every form of speech, unless it violates another citizen's rights. You can NOT be restrained from voicing your thoughts or opinions. It does not protect the individual from punishment arriving from trespass of free speech onto another citizen's rights.

So, you beat someone "to a bloody pulp" because you didn't like what they were doing? If you're not telling stories, that cop should get a reprimand or be fired, and you should likely have a felony record now. That kind of anti-social behavior shouldn't be tolerated.

In 91, August I think, I was at an art fair in Ann Arbor. I had been walking around all the booths with my girlfriend, and we were having a good time. But she had to work, so she left and I was there by myself. Well, I saw this beautiful hand woven American flag, and I just had to buy it before I left. I paid a hefty sum for it ($200), which was alot of money in those days.
Well it was getting late so I started walking outside of the main building. Then I noticed something, a tag on the flag. It was dark so I pulled out my lighter to examine it closer. The flag wasn't hand woven afterall, tag said "Made in China"! So as I stood there, steaming mad, I inadvertantly set the flag on fire. I tried blowing on it, stomping it, swinging it over my shoulder, but the fire wouldn't go out! The dyes in it were highly flammable, nearly impossible to extinguish, yet slow burning. I must have tried to put that flag out for twenty minutes. I noticed a cop just standing behind me staring, not even willing to lend me a hand in putting out the fire. Then out of nowhere, some idiot tackled me to the ground, and started punching me in the neck, face, and stomach. I tried to tell him to stop, but so much blood was coming out of my mouth I couldn't talk. I was beaten into a bloody pulp.
So that was my experience with freedom of speech.

Arson prevention.

I wonder how those idiots would react if during one of their demonstrations a company of Marines walked up behind them in full battle dress and just stood there. Not saying a word, doing nothing but standing there at attention. I just wonder how those punks would conduct themselves then.

Why not?
Depends on what they were doing and who it is.
I've beat teh crap out of someone one time and the cop only took away the guy I beat the crap out of. While telling me to get the hell out of there.
Turns out I found out from the same cop the guy wasnt exactly one of the good guys.
When I asked him why he didnt take me in too. He winked and said.
"you got away" LOL
I've seen similar things happen numerous times.

They would get in their Scion and yell " baby killers" from a block away at 60 mph.

:huh :huh :huh :huh
I can't believe that squealing ****, what... what the... Wtf was that?? :huh I think you all know me and my positions on the war and the people that started it. But that seriously pisses me off. That's like spitting on soldiers in Vietnam when they came back, alot of them didn't have a choice, they were drafted. Even the ones that volunteer i salute there beliefs and guts.
What the hell does burning a fake soldier have to do with anything. The soldiers don't make the policies the elected civilian leadership does. If you don't like the war disagree with them or burn they're likeness instead. But for God sakes leave the soldiers out of it. :furious :furious
****ing pitiful

On the plus side, girls can wear head scarves to school over here if they want
to. As long as we are slinging arrows and all. Oh yeah...as horrible as we are,
we haven't chopped the heads off of our political losers yet either.

Dreidock I said 'in my opinion'. I didn't call for them to be arrested, beaten to a bloody pulp (although they could all use a good a## kicking) or sanctioned in any way. However it is my opinion that sometimes freedom of speech is taken too far for common courtesy or plain simple decency.
Martin Luther King practiced freedom of speech. These guys are just a bunch of idiots that I don't want in my gene pool.

Actually, I was commenting on the actions of Karaya and the Cop, not the system of law in the U.S. And in case you were wondering, I'm from Oregon.

Reminds me of the modern day Nazi thread we had recently.
All it does is bring them to light and let them make total morons out of themselves in the public eye.
A harm only to themselves.
