Croucher Brewing Co (http://www.croucherbrewing.co.nz/) is offering a lifetime supply of beer for the return of a stolen laptop.
"Our brewery was broken into the night of Monday 15th of October, and the company laptop was stolen. The laptop had lots of info about our business that is important to us, but of no real value to anybody else, as it wasn’t exactly the latest technology laptop.
So instead of sitting on our hands hoping against hope that it would be found, we decided to offer a reward… if someone finds the laptop and returns it with all files and data in-tact and as it was, we will supply that person with one dozen Croucher Brewing boutique beer every month for the rest of their life! That is not a typo."
Up to date backups would have helped them a lot...

A dozen a month is not a lifetime supply.
I'm holding out for unlimited beers for life.
Then I'll look for their laptop.

Yes, I agree. But I could drink some of their "boutique" beers every Fri/Sat and then after those drink the regular beers (usually Finnish, German or Czech ones) I buy anyway. :)
Actually the free beer was just a bonus and a "funny" addition, the point was the up to date backups. Where are your digital photos and other important stuff you might have at your computer? Any backups?

Ah.
I was unable, for obvious reasons, to see beyond the free beer you described.
I use Maxtor one-touch, however I've never had to test the system "live".

Heh. I would actually be willing to give one of my - how did they say it, not the latest technology - laptops for a dozen beers a month. But my guess is they would like the information stored on it a lot more than the (or a) laptop.
