Absolutely incredible.
Shows the speed advantage of shooting single action. (http://www.break.com/index/fastest_gun_in_the_west.html)
-
Posted this in the Lazs b'day special thread, good stuff
-
Google "Jerry Miculek". See also : "Bob Munden".
But yeah, that guy is really good.
-
good shooting, but what is he using? I dont recall that much smoke when I used to shoot my 357 Ruger SA. I'm guessing its a .38 because I dont see the amount of recoil I would expect from a 357 or a 44.
-
In fast draw and shoot you use wax loads. I cowboy action shooting we use lead only rounds at 1000 fps or less. We also cannot shoot like that with live roulds because it is to dangerous. The best I have done with the pig iron is 5 targets (steel plates) in about 2 and a half seconds.
Phaser11 (SASS-Muddy Leg)
-
The smoke is probably black powder. Wax "bullets" are often used when you're shooting balloons.
Shooting steel, like the SASS meets or the Steel Challenge, is usually done with mid weight bullets at under 1000 FPS, as stated above.
-
yep.. wax or plastic bullets.. if you want to see real full power loads at speed do as virgil says and look of ol jerry or munden.

wow. shame he is not ginger, he would look like yosemite sam otherwise.
-
What's the point of shooting wax or plastic bullets? Might as well have a nerf gun competition.
-
well it took me a few minutes but I finally found a Bob Munden,

maybe Aquatard will come here and tell us how Bob Munden isnt mature enough to own the guns he does.
:D
That guy is amazing.

Crowd safety, as well as safety for the other shooters.

Cool, ain't he?
You should see and hear him make a Colt 1911 sound like a Thompson.
Those fast accurate shots he does he can do with a single action, a double action, or even a semi auto. His wife isn't REAL fast, but fairly quick and very accurate.
-
very cool, and fast. around 87 or 88 I saw some stuff about quick draw contests and spent some time practicing... actually thought I was pretty fast... never got around to entering any contest because they were never close enough... now I'm glad I didnt... I wouldnt have done very well at all...

I wonder how many rounds he has shot in his life.

There was a show on the History channel I think it was. Was pretty much nothing but the fastest guys out there, was an older guy on it whom could shoot menthol's out of the air with a .22 rifle.
-
Crockett, I think this is a clip from what you were talking about
Jerry Miculek

Yea that was part of the show, but it was a different guy that I was talking about.

Incredible clips, all of them. Wonder how fast they can do a single-shot shotgun?

Catch a SASS meet sometime. There are some guys there who literally throw shells into the open action of a shot gun like an 1897. Also some of them use a side by side and they can do it as well.

Wow, just wow! :O :aok

:D Yep!
-
sometime ago someone posted a clip of a guy doing trick shooting with a shotgun, like throwing up 5 clays and shooting them real quick
-
http://www.compfused.com/directlink/1206/
its mostly a commercial but has some good shootin in it. This is not the one I was look for though
-
I'd bet the guy you're looking for is an older guy with a mustache, he shoots a Benelli. I can't think of his name, but he looks a little like Jerry Miculek, but doesn't have the Cajun accent. He is on a couple of the shooting shows on the outdoor channels fairly often.
-
I really think all the trick shooter presentations should include weapon and ammo details. It's my impression that the guns often are customized (e.g., lighter trigger pull) and the ammo often special loads (e.g., bullet mods such as wax or power alterations such as low recoil).
I guess what I'm saying is fancy shooting is much more impressive if it's with standard guns and ammo off the shelf with no modifications.
Perhaps the fancy shooting should be in categories, e.g., modified guns and/or ammo and stock guns and ammo. And maybe it is -- I don't follow fancy shooting much, although I'm always impressed no matter what the fine tuning.
-
munden makes a DVD where he details all the guns and ammo. For some stuff he uses wax bullets and guns so tuned as to be useless for anything else.. for other stuff he uses plain old factory full house ammo
In one...he takes a 4" smith 44 mag and shoots balloons tethered to targets.. on shot.. one blasted balloon.. the first balloon is at 100 yards.. easy enough...the last is at 600 yards... that is....600 yards.. one shot...
he shoots coins thrown in the air with stock 45 autos and revolvers... clays with handguns... etc. he explains it all.
