Saw headcount of 8 so snuck on in... was 6 on 3 with me so switched...
Had 2 fights...both good not great. Mostly because I felt they were plane dependent fights. 1st I upped p-40 and lost after bunch of rinse and repeat vertical attacks 190 clipped the vertical slap. Cant blame him...U have to fly what you brought but wasnt particularly adept flying. Second I was in 38...originally 109 and 190...danced with the two. 190 was trying to make a fight...109 was trying to pick the 190's kill. 2nd friendly upped and 109 tried to pick off as he climbed out. 190 got aggresive finally ran him down....again bad match up and a guy trying top make a good fight in a plane not suited for the encounter.
Two things worth noting JG54 was split for arena balance so I've got to give em credit for it <> guys...
2nd even the AvA has cherrypicken dweebs. current #1 is a total dweeb so if i'm up on his side i'm rootin for red:D. Will try again later tonight or over weekend.....

What ever happened to turning off rank in the AvA? Did that end up being an impossible task?
-
Just left the AvA myself.
Really had a good time. Logged onto a couple mouths filling up the text buffer, but Oldman sat on em, and then it was just a good balanced fight.
Really is a good arena to hang out in. Had a great time.

thanks for posting that. even though no one likes splitting the squad we can't be on the same team always if more than four of us are on.
the fights were fun because as many have pointed out the distance between bases was short.

I'd love to dip my toe into the AvA......only thing stopping me is I'm such an easy kill.......not that dying in game matters at all - I'm more concerned with boring whoever is shooting me down - will I learn, yes, will shooting me down get boring for the rest of you...oh yes...lol.......maybe once I get a couple more months experience under my "wings".........

Can't do it. It's tied into the game and can't be switched off... Oh well, we tried. :)

Wurz:aok
Don't worry bud, I am attempting to re activate my account next month. I am guaranteed to soak up some lead .... :O
That's the fun part of the game, there is always someone who sucks worse (unless you are me)
Sounds like you have a good attitude about learning. Check out TA anytime?
If you think that you need to be more competitve to have fun in AvA, you are wrong. But, ask around in TA and someone is usually around to offer some tips. It is amazing how doing one little thing can totally turn the tables. And AvA is a great place to try them out.
Unless, things have changed, there is no need to guard perk points there. So, what if I get shot down. The AvA plane factory is open 24 ~ 7
Hope to see you there soon:D

I seldomly played in the MA my entire first year in AH. after playing in the CT (AvA) all that time when I did get into the MA I found that I could deal with 75% of the players in there without much thought. then as now the average AvA player is far more skilled than the average MA player. to quote verse, as iron sharpens iron so do the wits of one man sharpen the wits of another man. your skill will improve from the constant contact with players who while not stellar are quite competent.
you are more likely to be involved in several 1v1s or possibly 1v2s even in a short session. even if you do get mobbed you are probably being mobbed by non regulars which means they are MA regulars which means they will all be dead soon.
on tuesday I upped alone against a mob of seven who were being led by ghosth in milking a base, I was the only axis player on. as they all came to mob me in spits and woobiecanes I kept my E and whittled away at them. I had hits on most of them and had maintained my dominance with good E management bring greatly aided by their own inexperience. I had two in the bag when TK logs on and hurries to the fray. we each knocked down four and landed our kills. we then upped as a kette and went back on that fight TK ran out fuel with five kills and I landed nine. both of us were in 190A5s all of them were in spits or hurricanes.
another thing that will occur is you will find your SA improves. your hearing becomes tuned and it comes into play as a vital element in a furball because spitfires sound differently from 109s. if I hear a merlin I need to manuever because there are no friendlies in spitfires. this directly correlates to a more satisfying MA experience if you now fly alone into massive red clouds. knowing you are the only green guy in a sea of red=hearing becomes an important asset in assessing what may be approaching.
of course in a post or two some imbecile like karaya will be on to say how much of a nugget I am that all I posted is crap and that I suck. for what it's worth though in my opinion there is no finer arena in AH even though it could be greatly improved.
come on in and bring your game face, from that will come a much better game for you.

gpwurzel,
just don't give up, and have the courage and desire to persevere........you have to have the will power and desire to stay with it ( flying/practice/training ) if you ever want to reach any certian level of comfort in your fight/flying ability in the game.
Storch, you should sometimes take the high ground and not post the additional baggage of what others might come along and do or post behind you or about you...posting prematurely like that just opens the door for it to REALLY happen, now.....just saying

I actually managed to get into the AvA last night for a while during an evening session. I enjoyed { it was stupid to do so, but I enjoyed it anyway} tackling Storch and TK as a pair. I figured if I got either one of em, I was a winner :D ! Naturally, TK Took me down as I was tryin to get onto Storch.
They did the team thing just right, the way it's supposed to be done.:aok
There was another Allied player, who shall remain nameless, who was complainin of them Hordin. I fail to understand how, if you deliberately seek an engagement against 2 Enemy aircraft, then get handed yer behind because of their good team tactics, you can then call them a Horde ?? For the first time, in 6 years of playin AH, I actually used the sqelch feature, :o, on another player, that was on the same side I was. :huh
A bit Later, I found Dichodog, and He proceeded to Jitterbug around me while I was waltz'in around Him. Definately an interesting dance combo. Him in a 190, Me in My Fav Hurri mk 1. It was fun, till Numero Uno Picked me. It woulda been fine, and an expected outcome, had the engagement been one of team vs team. Yet at the time, there were 3 allies and 6 axis. Dicho and I wern't even in the main path of contact between the bases, but off to the side. Numero Uno had to come hunt us, to get the pick. Oh well, it's His $15 a month to play the way he want's, but it would be nice if he would let some of us finish our fights, when we're havin fun.
Does anybody know if Numero Uno actually fights anybody ?? Every time he's gotten me, I was mixed up with someone else. Maybe I'm gettin forgetful in my old age; :p ; Maybe not; but I fail to recall ever actually being in a fight with him. Maybe somebody else has. Maybe he's as good as he needs to be to wear the #1. Don't know or care, really, just wonderin.

Also, if any of ya see me online, and fancy kicking me about in the TA, just gimme a shout....thank ya kindly

That would require someone from HTC to disable the scoring. We (the staff) haven't gotten that far yet. Although it's been talked of, and no-one likes the ranking system, but disabling that would also disable the stats such as hit%...

From my experience, no.

The individual in question was following me around last night so, when he came in on my con, I shot out a 200 msg saying I was disengaging. It was an interesting fight Jaek.. sorry it got screwed up

Occasionally. Rarely. The sad thing about it is that he's a decent stick, who is so dedicated to his rank that he seldom uses his talents in real combat.

gpwurzel,I learned how to fly and fight(still learning)from fighting the better sticks..sure they knock you down, but then some of them will tell you what you did to get knocked down and how not to do it again. That was true in other sims and this one.I think in the AVA Ive landed 4 times, most of the time I get the "quick"trip to tower:D ..all part of learning
-
Lol, I'm soo used to the quick trip to the tower thing.....I'll be in there when I'm not working........looking to take the flopping around title.........:D

Everyone knows that the only place #1 counts is the Late War Fighter rank.

It counts as a measure of who can better fight their teammates for the vulches at a capped field.

Actually #1 rank in any arena is meaningless unless you limit it to the group that is focused on that aim. The scoring system has to many issues for any real measure of objectiveness.
