Despite the advances in how war is fought today, let us remember that the modern day GI who is hit by a bullet or shrapnel potentialy suffers just as painfull and traumatising an inujry as those who got hit on the beaches of Normandy in ww2.
those who fight, we can never understand your experiences and the life you lead, but we can always thank you for it.

I have that video posted on my MySpace, but I personally don't/can't watch it. I got torn up in Mosul in '04 and have 3 daughters, so that one kind of grabbed me when I saw it. I hope y'all will take a few minutes and watch it.
-
nope he's not a wuss. he's probably a person who has worn a uniform and gone in the service of his country. that is a touching video, thanks for sharing it.
-
Ocean - I dont mind being called a wuss.....but please, do NOT take the wearing of a uniform in the service of your country (any armed force, in any country) lightly. FYI, I have been in combat, had to watch as some of my friends didnt make it back, and attended their funerals.
Abuse me as much as you like, but please, show some respect.
Thank you,
Storch, ty Sir.

Naw, this isn't about being liberal or conservative, it's about appearing the village idiot.
-
Thanks for posting the video, it is touching.
The sad part is how our brave soldiers are put into harms way only to be given second class treatment at the VA hospitals. They should be getting priority, first class treatment. We have our priorities wrong.

B@t
Perfectly worded sir
Ranger
I have dealt with 'my' children when their father was deployed and to watch the fear and uncertainty in their eyes made that video even more poignant to me. Thank you for your service sir

Too bad you're still in school and haven't learned a thing about respect or showing any class.
Liberal, Conservative... you are just a stupid kid.

By this graph alone, it indicates that Australians (with some of the strictest gun control in the world) are three times more likely to be the victims of a burglars than in the US. Almost two times as likely to be a victim in the UK as well.
Arguing gun control with any one from another country is pointless. They have no right to tell you how to do it in your country, and we have no right on how to tell them to do it in theirs....
BTW, Hi again Beatle.

Hi bodhi - when are we going to have that beer?
He's a troll who can't stand his fishing ground is off limits.

But as for "in the service of one's country", I think a lot of brave young servicemen are duped into believing that, as they go to work earning brownie points for the politicians back home.

I wasn't dumped into going to Iraq. I joined up. Oh and let me tell you I joined before 911 I joined in 1999. Did you read that right let me help you out here I JOINED Up in the US Army. I went through Basic I went through my AIT I went through not having my family on Christmas,Thanksgiving and New Years Ive seen my friends get killed by IED's and enemy fire. Have you????? This country Is very lucky the have a volunteer military. Other country's as soon as you turn 17 or 18 your gone for 2yr's and some country's at lower ages. So fell very lucky your not in another country wearing a uniform at 16,17 or 18 yrs of age.

We really do have some high quality Americans who are patriotic enough to serve in our current military. I had the chance to meet one of these guys when I was taking a nondestructive testing course in Texas a few weeks ago. He was a black guy, about 24 years old, sharp as a whip, and looked like Wesley Snipes. He had left a job in nondestructive testing making $30/hr to fight in Iraq.
So its not just the poor country bumpkins, or inner city youth that is in our military. We have some real bright and talented dudes over there.

I'm sorry, wurzel (and others). I should not have said what I said. Yes to our armed services, of course.
It's a personal thing with me - a job wearing a uniform would be like a vampire having to wear a garlic wreath! Could not face it. Had to wear a school uniform - maybe that has something to do with it.
But as for "in the service of one's country", I think a lot of brave young servicemen are duped into believing that, as they go to work earning brownie points for the politicians back home.
Thank you for the apology Ocean, accepted and appreciated. You are as entitled to your views as the rest of us.
I wasnt duped, it was all I wanted to ever do..lol..go figure. What suits one, wont suit everyone.
Good hunting when next you fly,

Only the hardest of hearts won't shed a tear for a child who lost a parent. Only the most detached selfish bastard won't offer a salute to those who sacrifice their life in the service of their own country.
